QuickStep |
You can format a cpu. Here are the steps:
1) Remove CPU from computer, with a larger rusty screwdrive if possible.
2) Get beer.
3) Place CPU onto hard surface, perferabilty concert or metal.
4) More Beer maybe even a shot of Vodka
5) Take large hammer and proceed to smash CPU to small bits. If unrecognizable, then you've done your job.
6) Got to computer stop and buy new CPU
7) Have beer before you go to store, so you may better explain why you need a new CPU.
Ther you go, CPU format simplified. If you wanted to reformat you harddrive then you can read this: ---> Read Me <---
Sorry for the pop-ups on that link, but it was the fast one I could find.

...dont forget to backup all your important stuff, use a burner if you have one or a zip disk etc
then go here:
http://www.min.net/~jsjr/Web2/get/98UBD.exe
download it, it is a startup disk (if you dont already have one)
once you have d/l'ed it install it onto a floppy disk by opening it and following the instructions,
then restart your PC with the floppy disk in the drive, and it should boot up on it and bring up a menu. escape out of the menu then type in the dos prompt stuff like this:
c:
format c:
if you have 2 disks, after the format of c: go,
d:
format d:
or whatever you have labelled the disk/s.
after this it is a matter of reinstalling your operating system by using the bootdisk again. restart your PC after you have formated the drive/s and keep the floppy in the drive. it will bring up the menu again, just escape out of it once more and type this in the dos prompt:
x:
setup
(if you use win98,ME)
or
x:
cd i386
winnt
(for XP, and win2k variants)
follow the install and reinstall all your crap once you are back up. reformats seriously suck. usually you will forget how much stuff you actually have and you need to reinstall most of it. Stuff like drivers for all your hardware, all your apps, games, and other little programs... |

uh, you may just want to try defragging your hard drive. it should be under the tools tab in your HD's properties. |
