AVB San Francisco July 15th (pg. 2)

Just GO by yourself MAN :whip: :whip:
During the first 6 years that I lived here in SF, I often missed out on great shows because I had no one to go with.
I had this thing about not going to clubs by myself.....and was in a relationship in which my GF felt it was childish. To top it all off...all my friends hated trance!!!
......then early this year I found out M.I.K.E. was going to be @ 1015. I really wanted to see him, but no one wanted to come with me. I got alot of "1015...ewwww" responses. So I decided NOT TO GO.
......but then, the night of the show at around 10pm, I told myself IT :whip: :whip: :whip: jumped in the shower and made my way to 1015.
Like Dave T, Best Decision of my life. I made my way to the front (which I never really did before cause dates hated how crowded it was there) and stood by the booth.
Blurr and Artimus (the Tranceformers) opened for M.I.K.E. and immidiatly they had me going :crazy: :tongue3 :eyespop: :tongue2 before I knew it, many of the peole around me started to introduce themselves. Blurr put his arm around me once he came down from the booth and said WELCOME....then proceeded to go :crazy: :crazy: :crazy: w/ me. At some point in the night Shootingstar pinched my ASS when I got "out of hand"....then T Dizzzle started giving me high fives....I met many others through the course of the night....including Gilbert aka- Rizo (who made conversation right off the batt)...the rest is HISTORY!!!
As I started coming out to shows regularly....Gilbert remembered me and soon befriended me, as did Shooting Star and Lexx. With time, after Gilbert & TAJ keep bugging me to do so, I joined TA.
The SFTA's are really a tight group....and very much a "FAMILY". I have meet SO MANY peole through these boards and now can imagine my life w/o many of them.
.....best TA moment for me. TAJ, after joining us for our pre-Thrillseekers TA dinner, at the front of a long door line @ 1015 proclaiming to security "these are all tranceaddicts, they're good, they're with me..." (all 14 of us) :wtf: :D

There are definitely advantages in going alone. You do not have to worry about anyone else having a good time, or wanting to leave early. Say hi to people you recognize! i'll use this thread to introduce myself as well! im usually up in the front by the DJs also. name is Tuyen (most ppl pronounce it tooyen). here i am rocking out to Taj. im the asian dude in the yellow haha!

It sounds like many have gone through the same situation as you.(myself included) And there is no doubt that there will be others who are in the same situation as you are. It'll be a great show -- don't miss out. As y2yen said, it might even be better that you're alone since you won't have anyone to hold you back from enjoying yourself. |

| Go by yourself man! I've been going to all of these shows by myself actually and have a blast. Like y2yen said above, going by yourself gives you the advantage of leaving when you want and not worrying about whether your buddy is having a good time or not. |

I too am going alone, will be driving up from San Jose, so if anyone wants to carpool, PM me.
I asked a few friends but everyone backed down once they came to know it was on a Sunday night...loosers!! Who cares. I prefer going alone too, coz you always end up meeting loads of new people. I look forward to seeing all of you Sunday night...it is going to be amazing :D |

Hi Kitex, Welcome to Tranceaddict...
I grew up in San Francisco's Rave scene. Basically became a vagabond for many years frequenting massives and events all over the world. Burning man... Godskitchen, Sensation... Guverment in Canada... Love Parade in Berlin..
I retired unofficially from the Rave last year. Ill make apperances at some, but dont frequent many as much as I used to nowadays.
My name is Dave, but everyone knows me as Blurr. I got my namesake from the Rave, and it kinda stuck with me. I have a passion for Trance and fast cars too. :D
I also have gained residency at famed club 1015 Folsom. I hope to see you at one of my events sometime Kitex. (Frank, thanks for the kind words.)
Tranceaddict means alot to me. So do the members of this forum. I have been a member of the forums for some time now, actually come to think about it, I always was a member, but never really focused on the forums until summer of 2005. I used to come here to download some of the featured Tracks back then, including some stuff I found on Audiogalaxy way back when.
Once you get to know all of us, youll be part of a friendship that takes care of one another. Often times I help everyone, and give rides home to the ones who need it. Discodave lent a hand to someone last week I believe. So ya, if Im going to this, Ill give you a lift. bring earplugs because my truck pushes about 2000 watts of sound...
Armin will be great on Sunday.. Althought I have heard mixed reviews about his performances at EDC and other venues in LA, when he comes to San Francisco, he rocks out. 50 - 50 chance I will be at this event, counting probably the 50th time I have seen him live.
I cant remember how long Ive known DaveT. I think maybe we are part of that group that floated over from the 1015 Forums... I know it was back then on the 1015 Forums, maybe even farther than that. YA, SFTA group was not around back then.. but I think now the feel of those forums are coming back.. Which is good. I do remember being F.U. one night and talking with DaveT in the booth at 1015..
How much of a Armin fan am I? Armin has inspired me to become the Dj I am today. The night he played at 1015, 6 hours, changed my life. I tinkered with Djing and Vinyl before he played... but after his set... I devoted all my time and energy to becoming the Dj I am today...
I will always be in debt to Dave T for this spectacular photo of me and Armin. This night he actually signed my records, and a lithograph I had created that hangs here in the studio. Thanks again Dave...
Any TA's I havent met yet, I hope to meet soon....

Kitex, Welcome to TA! If you go this weekend alone it will probably the last time you will. There's a bunch of us that live in San Jose. I'm sure you'll begin carpooling with one of the TA's next time after you meet them this weekend. Im looking forward to meet you when I get back in town. |

Hey there!
I am going to echo what everyone else has said about the experience of going it alone. In LA that is how I met most of the TA's down there, and the first show I went by myself to was ... Armin :) Ok not completely by myself, but it gave me the courage to contact one of the TA's I had briefly met in San Diego to go. It was a phenomenal experience and it just took once to build friendships with other trance lovers (and TA's alike). It was in LA that I met some of the TA's up here in SF, who I am happy to see again now that I live up here.
I am pretty sure I will be there this Sunday and I know a bunch of other TA's who will be there too.Just show up, you will have a blast.
Besides at an AVB show, the last thing you will feel is alone :happy2: |
