Which is why in a thread a while back we discussed a lot of different options that could possibly work just as well as approving users. It's unfortunate, though, that Del seems to show little interest in anything outside of TOTA.

maybe make a group of "mods," the only ability of whom is to ban users with < some number of posts for some short period of time (maybe a day) until an actual mod could clean it up. That would at least cut down on the floods while nobody's around.

hmm... I wish things could be different, but I think the problem is the amount of programming that would be necessary to make these ideas work.
Sure, I'm just guessing, but from the little PHP I know, this doesn't seem to be an easy thing to do :(
