Seriously, +1 to Jay for recommending Bob Sagat - that is one funny motherfucker.

David Cross is another favorite.

Pretty much agree with everyone except for George Carlin. He is NOT funny. I watched two of his stand-ups on HBO and didn't even crack a smile.

i'm a fan of Carlin, but seeing him live in Vegas was WAY funnier than any televised special of his that i've seen. pretty much 90% of the crowd was your typical touristy types that wander around Vegas (they probably got free tickets by staying at the MGM or something), and he kept talking about how he loves Vegas but hates some of the people that come there... making fun of fat old people with fanny packs and whatnot, and i'm sitting there laughing my ass off and everyone around me is just staring at me like i'm crazy. you could just tell by the looks on their faces that they were really pissed off. that just made the whole show even funnier imo.

also... seeing Artie Lange (wasted out of his mind, btw) at Bananas Comedy Club in Poughkeepsie, NY was one of the funniest experiences of my life. only time i ever thought i was gonna piss my panties from laughing so hard.

RJT and i watched his Comedy Central special last weekend. he was pretty funny but he talked about and analyzed his own jokes wayyyyyy too much. i think half of the standup was him explaining "c'mon guys, this joke has X and Y and Z! see what i did there?"

Yeah that's true he did that a lot. In retrospect he wasn't THAT funny, but refreshing. I was also a little drunk on mojitos and fried chicken so...I got that going for me.
