i have a big problem with native protesters. they give the law abiding productive natives a bad name.i grew up beside a reserve so i know the problems they have, and its their own damn fault. generations of alcoholism, drug addiction and laziness have bred yet another generations of deviants, miscreants, and social system pariahs to free load off society. its been how many hundred years since we took your land? time to grow up, get a job, and build your own ing house and stop waiting for the gov to build one for you. they dont build me houses, and i pay ing taxes.
as for road blockades..... put bigger trucks and trains on the roads today and run the bastards over. Its time for these double standards to stop. if it were any other group in canada blocking off highways and rail lines, they would be arrested.
If anything shawn bryant and his band of ups are ruining what would have been a good day for native awareness by drawing attention away from peaceful walks and demonstrations. the OPP needs to grow some balls and put a stop to this now. everytime you let them get away with it, they think it will work. If i run into a blockade today on my way down to barrie from ottawa.... im going to run them over.... |

the land was taken from their great great great great great ancestors...... if it wasnt for good graces of the canadian gov. they would have been wiped out...... how long can they milk this sob storry for while they use our firearms, drink our booze, watch our porn and spend our ing money?
they have the reserves, its not our fault they let them go to .... just proves that the easiest way to hide money from a native is to put it under his work boots....
at the reserve back home, the gov built 20 new homes there about 6 years ago. within 2 years, half the homes were missing the wood decks and half the siding off the house becuase they were too damn lazy to cut down a in tree for firewood in the winter..... and the trees were located no more than 50 feet from the house.
the more handouts the gov gives them the worse they are going to be. cut them off now and force them to make positive changes in their way of life. its only going to get worse. |

So true. They are given so many advantages, and instead of taking these advantages, such as free post-secondary eduaction, they just throw it away and resort to drugs and alcohol. |

Calling in the army would be the stupidest thing to do.
While the army does have a mandate to assist in civil disturbances when called upon by govt, but do not train for riots and stuff or have the proper equipment. That's police's area.
Call in the army only if you want to see a lot of dead corpses.
I'm all for peaceful demonstrations. Have your rallies outside govt buildings and whatnot. Heck, if 50 anti war demonstrators get space on newspapers and tv, the Natives have no problem getting air time.
This sort of blocking railroad and roadway tactics only pisses a lot of people off. Already Via rail has cancelled services today due to this, causing a lot of headaches for avg citizens who have done nothing wrong.
But govt lacking balls, because for some reason the natives get treated with kiddy gloves won't do anything. Well, not after Ipperwash.
There are specific codes in the law that deals with this sort of stuff. If the natives violate them, arrest the whole lot of them.
Honestly, if the natives get their way with land claims that happened back in their great great grandfather's days, do I get a claim on Mongolians that came to my village back in 13th century and burnt down my ancestor's house?:rolleyes: |

Yeah, that's why I actually wanted the original posters' response, to (hear) their logic on this. They do have a few advantages here, and aren't lacking in any other opportunity that anyone else in this country has, so I didn't quite understand how they are more likely to fail in their lives. |

Hey folks...
I believe almost everyone here with the exception of one is judging based on their stereotypes.
I myself have known the non-stereotypical Aboriginals, and I can say LOTS of them. I went to school with them, I played sports with them. I really got to know them. They have their succesful people and their not-so-successful expressed in this thread. There are a lot of their people who also disapprove of the Warriors you see on the front-line. It's not a perfect society they live in, but they try to balance their lives with tradition and modern society in some ways. Some get greedy some profoundly give back to the community.
I hope people are focused on the people disturbing the sh!t and not the whole people in general, as what I am reading. Imagine the same happenning to the people of your culture. |

My opinions wouldn't have changed for any other group that breaks the law, and I'm only against the turd disturbers in the Native groups. |
