Hey there guys

I just moved to socal couple of weeks ago. I was wondering, in order to find a gig, should I just drop off demos at bars or clubs? Or do I have to know someone in order to get a gig?

blitzz

good advice blitzz. i agree. welcome to the area dilmeet!

go around and network a bunch. website, demo cds, business cards, press kit's etc... all that helps... but unfortunately we all can agree that talent nor passion gets you gigs... it's simply who you know. :)

::goes back to producing::

From my research, i think networking works. You do have to know people to land interesting gigs, theres a lot of talent and passion out there your going up against, so its easy to get edged out by those with connects. Find the connects Carl Johnson.
Dilmeet
yeah... basically what I assumed, networking. I might try to find some people here at UCR who dj or who into EDM.

i would assume it wouldnt hurt to get into production as well

Having a nice following helps too. ;)

Talent means nothing, i think i might start DJing too. but if you got some talent come check out my partys on every first Friday in OC. i have a post on these boards somewhere for this friday. I book talent period.
