good thing i didnt drive so far and go last tues then, otherwise, id be as irritated as some people here...
at least they gave free tickets to a diff show in replacement, but how about gas and time spent =) speaking of tickets, did they give only those who bought ahead?
in any case, its nobodys fault really... |

i think they only gave free tickets for the people who bought it on groovetickets. the ticket they gave is for saturday at vanguard with lawler, although on the ticket the date is for thursday at tentation again but vanguard re-uses unfinished tickets. |

There's been a lot more crappier things that has happened to us partiers (at least the ones that have been partying around for a long time).
I've paid tons of money to go to raves thrown by some of the biggest promoters at the time (anyone recall B3CANDE??). At least Giant made up for it by giving you a make-up ticket (though I think a refund would of been better since what if you don't like lawler or can't go and what about the gas money you wasted?) Either way, they can't control if a DJ can make it to a gig or not. They do what's best in their ability.
Seriously... my Jujubeats/HSII/Narnia ticket are still hanging on my wall. |

Considering we're 8 hours behind the UK and 9 hours behind Ibiza (as it appears Howells was supposed to play in Ibiza on sunday), and a flight from that part of the world to here takes roughly 11 hours, I'm sure the promoter knew quite early in the day tue, or even quite late in the day Monday that Danny wouldn't be there.... :wtf:

Also don't forget it is OC, most people aren't there for the big DJ, but to go to a club. A majority of the people there were probably more like "Tentation is open on Tuesday too this week!" instead of "Woo, Danny Howells!" |

I wager that 98% of the crowd did not even know what was going on and had a great time because they were at Tentation to dance and have a few drinks. From what I see in this thread less than 15 people would have ever even seen the announcement.
I am not sure what airline Howells' was scheduled on but I do know that the recent events in the U.K. and Scotland forced the closure of several airports in the region and caused a nightmare of a backlog. With that said: British Airways was so overwhelmed that they were forced to cancel all flights to catch up with all of the passengers that were stranded for days.
Finally, for all of those that say the promoter knew far ahead of time: did you ever stop to think that maybe the promoter tried their hardest to find a way around the problem? Why would a promoter just give up when their reputation is on the line?
There are two sides to every story...and then there is the truth.
I think the feuding parties need to take a step back and pull their heads out of their asses.
I don't side with anyone in this thread but I do think that JC needs to watch his words because he is a professional and as such his income and reputation as a promoter depend heavily on his P.R. skills. He can be the nicest guy in the world and throw the biggest and the best parties, but all it takes is ONE slip of the tongue to demolish what took years to build. People tend to forget all of the positive and focus solely on the negative which history has shown time, and time again. |
