I really liked the Descent too. I loved the 'Evil Dead' series which was more of a comedy/horror trilogy, apprently there is a new one in the pipeline without Bruce Campbell :( Imo he made it was it was.

I also liked a few of the Stephen King movies like IT. The Shining was great too.

I'm a real big 'horror' fan, but there's a lack of really good horrors nowadays.

All you said is true..hard to find a good horror flick, which is why I was surprised by Descent. Also, Jim Carrey is such a ripoff of Bruce Campbell...I thought the original Texas Chainsaw was good although the remake with Jessica Biel was just hot , not a good movie though..and the original Halloween.

:stongue:

Now that you mention it, yes Carrey does remind me a bit of Bruce Campbell in his hay-day, with a smaller head.

the shower scene in Psycho will always be the best for creating tension without the gore....honourable mention to the twins in the Shining.

can't remember where I saw it, but there was some study done to figure out what the "scariest" movie in history was, by measuring changes in pulse, perspiration, & a couple other things, iirc, and The Shining came out ahead of everything else.

I really love Zombie movies and anything George A Romero (The Crazies was good too)....to me gore is fun, but if you can scare without it you are a master. Italian horror is good too.

i forget the name...The Grave Keeper...something like that...so good.

also the score plays a huge role..(exorcist,halloween,)
Slylee
Exorcist 1 and The Beginning
