Smoking Hat presents Directions

The list of quality local nights is ever expanding in Melbourne; the newest addition comes courtesy of Smoking Hat and the Exford Hotel, presenting the fortnightly Directions party. A selection of chilled music at the newly refurbished Wintergarden Room, upstairs at the Exford Hotel (Corner Russell and Little Bourke), Directions is the How To on hearing Cool Stuff.
Directions combines a friendly atmosphere, free entry and all night drink specials, with some beautifully broken beats, minor minimal mayhem, dubious dubs & steps and nostalgic progressions, the perfect way to spend a relaxed evening amongst good friends and good music.
Connecting resident Direction DJs Pauly Fatlace and Andre Hine, with guest Djs and performers each fortnight, doors open for the first set of Directions on the 21st of July. With Happy Hour from 8 till 10pm and drink specials continuing all night, there’s no reason to stay home on the 1st and 3rd Saturday each month.

Surely there are dozens of better venues in Melbourne for an event such as this?
I haven't seen upstairs, it may be great, but downstairs is pretty rank... |

It sounds like it's been renovated?
I'd actually strongly disagree with you on that one Beat Blog. There is actually a SEVERE lack of venues in Melbourne that are suitable and have management that are willing to support new nights like this in Melbourne at the moment imo. |

I'm going to have to admit i havent been there yet either, but andre assured me downstairs is indeed rank, upstairs though is apparently very nice, maybe i should have placed less emphasis on the hotel...
Funny you mention that about management dean, same goes for the owner of this venue, hes been quite paranoid about this turning into a big Doof Doof type night. |

It's easy to get smoking dispensation...
1. Fly to a small, poor country. Bahrain, Malawi, Nauru, Lichtenstein etc.
2. Offer to set up an embassy for them in your country, paying for everything; rent, security etc.
3. Go home, turn the embassy into a pub, smoke as much as you like (technically foreign soil).
4. Help any stranded travellers from the original country. Since it is a small, poor country, this will only happen once a decade.
This has already been done I hear. |
