That's a definite possibility (and I might just go ahead and close shop/get my dinero back on the other site and direct ppl to this site). Like I said in a previous post, I guess I didn't think TA was geared so much for organizing a group. Even this forum is for the S/E, not just Atlanta. I'm totally open to organizing things wherever...imo TA is a bit more of a labrynth for connecting w/ others (if you're somewhat new to the music and/or site). That other site's only purpose to help groups to form (it's focused solely on ppl in the group and likely to be more personal). Whatever path is taken to organize group meetings, the TA forum will reflect any outings/events/etc.

Now, focusing efforts here in TA does have some advantages.
1. No need to create a new account on another site
2. There are existing connections between folks, "hardcore" fans maybe
3. Free (for me:)
4. I don't have to worry about "leading" a group, lol

Advantages for another site
1. Focused soley on creating a group and RL connections
2. No sifting through TA S/E posts to find out what's going on for local meetups. As a matter of fact, posts have a very specific, more personal focus.
3. Idk how many of the ppl on that site are existing TA members. So, additional numbers (I think maybe a couple dozen ppl or so, possibly more)
4. Ppl who have signed up on that site are specifically interested in meeting as a group. They're obviously motivated to meet.

In the end...all I want to do is get ppl who love the Music together. Meeting w/ some TA-T-Ls last weekend got me wanting more stuff like it. If the consensus w/ ya'll on TA is ditch the other site and keep things here, then so be it. If locals want a group-specific site focused *more* on the *group* itself, then I wonder if another site isn't the better way to go.

Personally, I want to have something in place to help foster relationships. I like the idea of having my pic and profile for ppl to see so they can connect a name and face and post a msg wondering who's up for something on a Fri or Sat night. I don't see that depth of communication on here, at least not on the forum level. I picture someone in the group being able to jump on that site, say hi, ask how ppl r doing, see if anyone is up for spinning, talk about local places and events, share interests and themselves in a way you won't ever see here.

So, let's make a group decision on where to park our group. You know...I could literally say on the meetup group site that we are a Trance Addict local group, keeping strong ties between that group and our foundation here.

So many ideas...let's find something simple to address the intent to form a group that meets. What shall we do??!

I will admit, our former group is a bit out of touch with each other lately, but we are all still around.

There's about a solid 20 of us that still hang out every now and again for said pool party's, bbq's and the like....

as for actual shows, Wow, i haven't been to one in over a year (soon to be broken once in europe for vaca)

but anywayz, all this needs is mere action. Find an event you know everyone will enjoy attending, figure out a pre-party location, bringeth whoever you wanteth, and all shall be well.:tongue2

We came. We threw it down. We took a break. :p

Just wait till August 16th before you throw anything. That's the day I become a true ATLTA (as opposed to a suburb ta).

Been thinking about what would to do for a kickoff group event. I like the idea of a lounge, should be easier to mingle. The thing is...time and day of week. Is it a Friday happy hour (which might be tough for some folks to get to so early), a weekday thing (less crowded bar), or a Saturday thing that's a little earlier in the evening (giving everyone the ability to attend and having a lounge mostly to ourselves)?

So far, that meetup group has 11 ppl signed up. I figure I'll let it ride 2-3 weeks and see what happens. I'm trying to figure out if ppl there are members here (and suggest they get signed up here).

I'll cast my vote for a Saturday event. I'm pretty swamped during the week.
