so what about lenovo, since it's the offshoot of ibm?

Ive never heard of Lenovo, but since its an offshoot of IBM, I would expect it to be good.

lol, circuit city makes only $6 bucks at most on a laptop, so i'd be below cost ;)

My shady store does the same . Except I cant sell below cost cause I dont work for a corporation. :p But when you sell accessories for like 200% profit, it doesnt really matter does it. :p

i'm checking out options to customize the toshiba portege m400-st4001, and i dont get why they dont have 7200rpm for 120gig hard drive.. these are the options:

HDD > more

80GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA) [subtract $150.00]
100GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA) [subtract $110.00]
80GB HDD (7200rpm, Serial-ATA) [subtract $70.00]
120GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA) [subtract $75.00]
100GB HDD (7200rpm, Serial-ATA)

wtf? :conf:

i really want like 200 gig tho tbh.

what's a good speed for the DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW shizzle? i am constantly seeing 8x...

I dont think you can get a 200GB from a direct dealer, youd have to buy it separately and put it in. 120GB is probably the most youd get stock. Laptop technology is far behind desktops, so the larger HDs tend to be 5400RPM.

Im not all up on this laptop stuff, Im learning it as I check out on newegg.

so far macbook pro was the only one with a 200gig availability. but the price is slightly out of my range.

but why does the HD speed go down when the gigs get higher? that's what i'm confused about.

yea but at 160gb, youre at 5400rpm.

dani, it goes down because the technology hasnt caught up. the laptop hard drives are built differently from desktop ones (obviously) so they can put in more memory, but sacrifice speed until they can figure out how to make it faster without making the hardware bigger.
