Why is Everyone So Bitter Here? (pg. 4)

I'm not sure what to do when I see the "same" threads... I don't want to or have time to be the who remembers every thread and closes all of them that we've seen before, that's illogical, I'm just not sure how to deal with it.

A great example of what we need more of is a thread going in in the DJ BOOTH : Thread

We can't forget one thing - Trance does attract people of younger age in some case, where their only contact with anything technical or indeed real studio problems are through what is printed in PR and advertising controlled magazines (SOS/DJ/FM etc.) or through hearing from someone else. A lot of us who have years of hands on experience have a certain level of understanding which means certain things are "given knowledge".

I think the main beef with dumb newbie questions (please not differentiation between newbie and dumb newbie questions) is not the lack of knowledge but the lack of effort put in researching the question your going to ask.

Think about it: when you were or are in school/ work, there is a certain refrain from asking a obvious question for fear of looking like a dumbass in front of your peers. online forums don't have that risk (pre-question), so many people just ask before putting their brain in gear and thinking that seasoned users might be annoyed that all the advice that has gone before is ignored.

Vizay makes a good point too, that some think that in 5 mins you're going to get a record deal. Look at the respected producers and DJ's (in any genre) out there at the moment - they have been plugging away for years (more than 10 in most cases) as have their 100 other talented and experienced mates who will never get any recognition due to luck or timing.

Didn't get your question answered, eh? :p

Those threads eventually sink to the bottom anyway. I'd say just close the ones that devolve into flame wars.

don't speak like that ... I mean you should have instincts telling you what to do ...

this way someone's just going to ask "Why are you a moderator, then?"

Hey, we all start somewhere. It's alllll good.

People just get pissy because, as in any forum, there is only so much information that gets stated over and over again, so for veterans it becomes highly redundant.

Of course, the forum itself might adopt certain standards for what is acceptably "correct", but it may often be, but it also can stifle new trends and ideas if people aren't cautious to keep an open mind and an open ear.

Besides, production is something that you will always learn something new about.

I don't believe that's totally true, the information that lands here is totally up to us users to decide what it should be about.

Take a peak at gearslutz, they often run discussions about interesting and advanced topics without getting to redundant.

And jsut hold on, I don't mean that we should try to turn this forum into a yuber eliteish part of the internet but there are subjects to discuss that haven't been discussed before. We are not even close to havind discovered them all...

Nope.... Still trying to find out how to make my million dollar smash release uber supersaw ASOT anthem.
Vizay
i suggest getting the Armin van Buuren Supersaw-anthem-a-minute. in 3 easy steps you too could change the face of dance music.

batteries not included.

Thats precisely because they're 'interesting and advanced topics' and not 'how do I make a supersaw' or whatever the usual question is (On DoA its 'how do I make a reese' or 'how do I make a Pendulum snare').

well, this is probably one of the main factors that sorta kept me away from the forum. no offence but this forum ain't what it used to be back then.
