Best PC Gamepad?
View this Thread in Original format
Yan
I need your help, gamers. I'm looking for the ideal gamepad for my PC.

Needs:

Great D-Pad
Joystick (optional... but would be nice)
At least 4 buttons on the face with at least 2 shoulder buttons
USB connection
Great battery life (if wireless)
The ability to sync up with emulators (partially the emulators job here so not asking for much from the joypad developers)

Would be great if it had but not necessarily:

Wireless
Rechargeable Li-Ion/NiCd/NiMH

Thanks in advance, guys. :)

wow, you dont expect much do you mate? :toothless

i was with you right up until the ability to sync up with emulators. good luck! ;)

I have a Game Elements Recoil (model# GGE908) and it does all that. I got it for $25 from Best Buy.

USB1 (with retractable coil)
4 shoulder buttons
Regular Joypad
Dual Analog with sensitivity
4 shoulder
4 face buttons + Star, Select, "Analog switch", Turbo, Clear.
it also comes with rumble, which was a surprise :)
So yes, it works with emulators no problem.

The only thing to complain is the retractable coil is sensitive to major pulling/constricting when in use. So if you stretch or jerk the controller around, the connection will be lost momentarily with the computer.

i have these, and am happy with both;

get an xbox 360 controller. USB right off the bat.

OR

get an xbox controller, chop off the end, and splice it with a regular USB jack. just match the colors of the cables with each other. you can find drivers on google. works like a charm.

so long as the emulator supports USB joysticks, you shouldn't have issues with getting either of them to work.

I've had a few, and I wouldn't really recommend any of them, but definitely go with one of the major brands, 'cuz otherwise, support/driver issues are a huge pain in the ass. The worst one I've had was some saitek thing. stay far away from them.

Anyone tried an Xbox 360 controller? I heard they work quite good for PC gaming..

Considering all here except the 360 controller. The D-Pad is on those.

Thanks a lot! Keep 'em coming, guys. :)

I just bought an adapter off of ebay for $3 (shipping inclusive!) for my original Xbox controller.

So much better for playing games. You can also get similar adapters for PS2 controllers.

have you actually gotten it to work? I looked into that a few weeks ago, & it seemed like it was about a 50/50 success rate, and either way, you had a controller you couldn't use on an xbox anymore.

I have a logitech that essentially is a copy of the PS2 controller. Which to me is the perfect controller. I think they're like $19.99 everywhere.

the analog sticks on that thing blow, though. they're even worse than the 360 controller's
