Coming from a now complete house and techno lover, I've gotta say this mix moved me. Track selection was fantastic, mixing was top notch and the flow was wonderful.
You don't find these kind of mixes anymore and that is why I moved away from trance. You truely do know your trance roots and even seem to have found some great tracks from post 2005 as well.
There isn't much more to be said here than what already has been said in this thread, but you did a great job, and I'd like to hear more mixes from you in the future. Keep it up. |

Ok my review
I listened to the mix 3 times because it really grew on me, but listening to a mix multiple times, you notice different things every second. First, the flow makes perfect sense. At no point does it seem to be a random transition, nor does it seem to be too energetic or too chilled. I like the 'old school' sound in the set, something you don't always here... sometimes felt like I was listening to the old Forbidden Paradise series. Some people might not like that sound, especially the people that haven't heard a trance track pre 2004... but for people that have, it's nostalgic. The best part of the set for me was from the 4th to 7th track. The progressive sound really sets the mood for whatever is coming up. Would be great and easy to dance to in the clubs but at the same time, has great production quality for someone who wasn't in the club to really enjoy.
My personal suggestions for you would be this. I didn't feel at any time that you had train wrecked or killed the mood with sudden energy changes as I mentioned above, but I think in the future you could spend more time in longer (45 sec+) transitions especially with the proggier tracks. I know you're a big J00F fan and with his new format on GTG, in the proggier part of the show, his transitions for those tracks are the perfect analogy to prove what I mean. Another thing as someone mentioned, I think there could have been a bit more epic sound in the set. There are plenty of tracks that could fit that style like say, old Chakra or even current Wizzy Noise or Nicholas Bennison. Anyhow, this is just my 2 cents.
Good work man, 8/10. |
thanks a bunch for your review. Glad to hear that you liked it. I will take notice of your opinions for future mixes.
Regarding the short transitions in some tunes I had a tough time with them since the older tunes often aren't very mixfriendly. And if you listen to old trance mixes from mid 90s you'll also notice that they use short transitions. I really tried as good as I could.
And about the epic tunes. I thought I wen't pretty epic with the Friends Lovers and Family and De Niro tune? :)
But yes I agree I could have made the mix a bit longer as well and put in some more tunes since now I kind of feel that I ended abruptly with the Blue Planet Corporation tune. I could have gone even longer and throw in some more chunky tunes.
But stay tuned for the next mix. It will be even better. I promise :D
And even include some unreleased stuff as well as old gems!
Thanks ! |

glad you liked it mate. Keep your eyes peeled for the next one :)
Funny thing is that I originally never thought I would find any post 2000 tunes to add for the mix. And definetly not anything from 2007!
Good trance is released even today. |

nice tunes. fresh air after the pile of Avb-A&B-PvD
added: oh..the 1st half is definitely better, the 2nd is kind of oldskool sounding, like 1999 trance..but not bad all in all |

| I keep getting an error: connection with the server could not be established. Does anyone else know if this set is being hosted anywhere or by anyone else. I really enjoyed your sets Rebel and the NASA set you posted a while back. Is there any chance this set could be rehosted or maybe someone has a new link to it. I'd appreciate it. |
