quote from the smabers crew:
It has come to our attention that some losers that produce handbag apres-ski (spring break) farmerboy trance/clubpop of the most horrible kind dare to call that crap ELECTRO nowadays. It has nothing to do with ELECTRO and its a straight up wrong use of the term...a falsification of history and disrespect to many.
Those idiots don't understand the jams from the Naayifsh Planet Rock Lover angle , they don't know what a TR808 is and probably never seen a SL1200.
This amsterdam fake electro is made by talentless & fantasyless pretentious cokeheaded pricks that don't give a about music--- but only how their hair looks (als je haar maar goed zit jaja) and how they can score enough poppers to put in their flobby asses so they can all over huppelkut ableton ipod mp3 players well you all you know who you are we are going to DISSSSS your ass of with our TR808s, BMWs and the knowledge of TRUE ELECTRO!!!!!!

you do?

im practically at the point where im arguing my case to extremes further than i even believe myself simply because...desperate measure call for desperate actions.

but yeah...hardware rules for electro srsly.

Well I agree mostly about the electro vs. crap now called electro argument. And that if you're trying to make real electro it is much easier and probably cheaper to use old analog boxes.

but most importantly more fun!

also like some of you like to use "rewire" and combine two daws...well gear is like a gigantic rewire project, if you like ableton, because you think it makes you work and think different...well obscure ed up sequencers will really push you to think differently.

lol you all lose. you took the flame bait.

Native Instruments Massive is probably the best synth for electro.

Some people here are way too protective of their genres: "No get stuffed! Its MY electro!"

oh its not my electro,
take note that through all of this i have said I love electro, I have said I love electro production techniques, and I identify with them most closely, but I never once said that I make electro.

I have too much respect for the genre to say that. I don't believe that it is a producers job to label his own music with genres, because as we can see, that is not a wise move. Especially when dealing with a genre that has such a deep and rich history.

You shouldnt call it electro, until it is electro, and how will you know its electro? when other people hear it as that.
