...feel like ive been ran over by a limo.
Walt,Yoji and PVD massive highlights. Blinkys and Scots sets too!
Flame throwers and turbo bubble machine + sunrise + PVD = bliss.
The crowd was fair in my view. PHD is a disease-dont they get it :/ Meeting 40yr old first time ravers in full get up is just fukin wrong too. Dragging bleeding ODing ppl from toilets - not cool. People ODing on main arena - not cool. Those pissy stairs to the left of main stage - not ing cool. Opening the gates at 5:45pm - not cool. PVD an hour late to play 1.5 hrs....urrrrr. Camping facilities...urrr where? $10 vodkas?? $5 cloak room + $1 hassle charge. Kill killrockstarâ„¢
Sound in main arena was killer (when it worked). Anything else? urr no u may not rub my jacket again :/ |

so anyway heres my summary of the night (copied from itm):
crowd was bloody feral O_O couldnt believe the amount of ed up ravers there. when will they ever learn... one freak was just following me and my friends around for like 20 minutes.. wtf? had to lose him in the interview room.
anyway, drove in at about 8. saw some dude drive into a ditch and get his car stuck and one corner of his magna bashed in. lolz.
joel mull i thought was pretty good... tech is not normally my thing but i had abit of a groove to him.
walt was good but had ed up sound issues and man did he raaage it. stormed off the stage at one point. came back a few moments later to the crowds applause as we could all see it was out of his hands. good on him for coming back on when he was clearly very pissed off. played chopperchunk which i love still i dont think he was as good as his set at pharmacy last year.
yoji was good as well. wanted to hear more classics but oh well. as usual he opened with "its not unusual". another highlight was some remix of Aha - Take on me hahah. closing with never end is always good again though i thought he was better previous times ive seen him
next i went to check out remo-con as i had heard good things, and man am i glad i went down there!! he was EASILY the highlight of the night. played a bloody stormer of a techtrance set. alot of dudes on here woulda loved him i think and if you didnt catch him you missed out big time! the dude was a ball of energy! awesome set flow, awesome tune selection, awesome crowd interaction, and top notch mixing... using the effects to enhance the tracks rather than overdoing it like alot of other "skillful" djs. the only thing was the sound was abit ed in that room, so i had to stand in front of the speakers where it sounded heaps better. i didnt mind that anyway as i got to watch him mix n go crazy! was very very good, one of the best sets ive seen in a while. closing with coldfront and gsigh was ing awesome!
after that i was hanging around the psy stage for joof but wasnt really taking much of the music in as i was just having abit of a chat. i went up to the front for about 15 mins to watch him and he is so awesome. it was probably the 5th time ive seen him and he is one of my fav djs. not only does he play awesome tunes, but i just love the way he gets so into it. he is just ALWAYS smiling up there and loving every moment. it makes me smile to see how much he loves the music that he plays. he knows every track he plays inside out as well which i think is always good.
caught the last hour or so of claessen and he was pretty good. first light ftw. was kinda worried that pvd might not be playing as claessen just kept on going when i thought pvd should have already started? also i couldnt see pvds laptops and setup so started to worry a little bit. when they started setting it up it was a relief.
pvd.... there was something definately wrong there. i didnt see him look up at the crowd ONCE and if you compare his body language last night with his body language when he played at metro the other week it was worlds apart. he looked like he wasnt into it all. i dont know if it had something to do with him being late or maybe some up on the promoters part? i dont know. his set wasnt all that bad but definitely no where on a level to the last 2 times ive seen him. highlight for me was the mix from born slippy into "the next track" with the riff from seven nation army played in between. was fkn awesome. btw does anyone know the name of that track? hmm anyway i was a little bit disapointed with pvd but overall i had a good night so cant complain.
trent mcdermott closed it out with some banging tracks which kept me dancing till the end.
it was VERY messy when the light came up... alot of faces i just did not want to be seeing really.
overall i had a very good night. remocon the highlight BY FAR. |

totally agree with you: killrockstar must've been doing a few things wrong to piss of walt and PVD...? sound seemed pretty ed a few times during the night as well, tho i dunno what the cause of that was-- either way, the ultraworld problems were sad:
i didn't find paul's set anywhere near as good as his metro one, but that may have been the environment of kryal, and the fact that he just seemed to be having a time...
jeeeeeesus, the born slippy, seven nation army, & other track mashup was fkn incredible tho- what a DJ!
remo-con was Great for the bits i saw him, but the room was too hot, and too loud for me to stay his whole set- i had a good groove to shpongle, and hallucinogen as well: quite liking the psy lately :)
blinky played a great set too, sounded quite similar to his earthcore one, but nothing wrong with that :)
i had a great time anyway: the green spinny things at the psy stage were fkn great fun :D |
