My brother went to RAC a number of years ago (4 or 5) and has numerous gold records in both Canada and USA.

as for this comment, do extensive research before picking your school.
you do not want to be ed over for paying so much for your tutition.

Go to each school - check out the faculty - try to find some people who have graduated from the school.

in fact, post on most music forums for other people's opinons.

gooood luck

I've heard through the grape-vine that it (metalworks) is a bit of a factory for free labour vs. a training institution.

I would disagree with this statement.

Go to an institution that offers you a foundation to build upon. No college is going to teach you the precise things that you need to go work in the real world - but hopefully it will give you a basis to learn and a vernacular to understand what is going on.

My brother interned for a while right out of RAC which gave him the "basic" experience he needed before going to work for a major label in Canada. The internship gave him "industry" which resulted in work (gold records) in Canada and then got him a call to work in LA where he has continued his success (more gold records and a platinum to boot [album credits with Tommy Lee, Fuel, Rob Zombie to name a few]).

thanks for the replies, but i do wanna go to school for this, i just graduated from college with a diploma of business marketing and now im looking to get into the music industry to make my own music and maybe record the music of others and market it, its something i wanted to do since i was a kid. im a bedroom dj right now, as much as i love dj'ing i still want my own studio for recording. Im looking for an institute that wont let me down, ill pay the money they ask for aslong as i end up with the career that i always wanted. currently i live in london ontario, which of those schools do you guys think is a really good one thats not too far from here ? rabbitjoker can you tell me where RAC is located, and was your brother happy with what they teached him, did he think it was worth the money ?
