Sure why not? Most older people love bars and art galleries so no problem right?

I guarantee more problems are caused by peole coming from bars pissed drunk than from happy-happy clubbers*.

*except the top 40 joints...

What really vexes me about this Circa thing is Adam Vaughn's hypocritical arguement.

He is a HUGE supporter of the new state of the art mega theatre they are building - mind you it also includes condos. He basically says that it will add character and culture to the district and it is something Toronto has never seen. Meanwhile Gatien basically says the same thing about Circa and Vaughn shoots it down because it is a form of entertainment he does not agree with or even understand.

Then it's settled. We'll have a 'City Councillor Appreciation Party' and see how many of them show up.

So why do they move in and then bitch about the entertainment district?

Way to paint everyone with the same brush, Jay.
Some people bought property there before it became what it is today.

This 'guarantee' of yours would be incorrect.

BTW. I take it you don't live in Toronto, otherwise you'd know that pretty much every single club in the 'district' now is either Top 40 or "urban".

This is true. Many prospect/initial buyers bought their condos when it was still in the model, planning stages. Which was late 90's early 00's... and as you're well aware Jay. ALOOOOOOOT has changed in that vicinity since that time period.

Somehow I think having a 4AM last call would lessen problems in the area... all you have now are binge drinkers getting the boot and then they're all outside roaming drunk.

'Toronto' doesn't know what it wants - last year Toronto Tourism advertised on TA targetting American traffic promoting our varied nightlife/clubs. wtf.

Yeah, that's odd. Mind you, sometimes they assign a specific individual usually some young 'hip' person/intern/student working p/t for the city's tourism dept. to specifically target these groups without actually dealing with it themselves. So it could've been done based solely on the individuals initiative and doesn't really reflect the city's 'direction'.

SOME but not most. And the ones that were have seen their property values rise substantially due to the value that the entertainment has brought.

Neighbourhoods change. So you have a choice. Change with it, or collect the payout and move.

Agreed 101%

Time changes, ppl change and best friend become strangers. Go with the flow or leave with the flow.

Easy! If things dont change we dont have progress. Now, its one thing to change with a neighbourhood naturally. Its another to force it.

For example. When the entertainment district moved in, they didnt try to force out the residents. Not so with the condo movement.

My neighbourhood where i live is changing for better and worse. If it gets to the point where i dont like the change, its time to move. How can this city ever progress without change?

Honestly, if the city hadnt put a freeze on new liquor licences and forced everyone to concentrate in one area, the clubs would mostly be long gone by now and probably west of Spadina.

The problem we have now is artificially created by the city itself.
