Finally, finally, finally is there some freakin' excitement in this city...!
If you are a music nerd/scenster/industry follower like me you'll have to admit the scene has been pretty crappy the last little while. While some stellar events have been produced in the past year, there's been a lot of downtime in between these great events...
Now that there's some new Electronic Music events in the works (EDM is a very retarded term btw), with EXPOSED and Circa on the way, and INK turning it up 5 notches with the threat of competition, I'm pretty happy that finally, finally, finally there's some excitement in this stagnant scene.
This is the best thing happening for YOU the clubber. You'll see better bookings, better decor, better parties, etc. Not the same old, same old bookers on Auto Pilot like we've been seeing before.
Things are going to get interesting! |

Do you really think we had it that bad here all this time and that it's only getting good now?
A favourite personal rant of mine is how lucky we have it in Toronto, imo one of the worlds greatest cities to club in on a consistent regular basis. |

Ever since Sonic closed, I think yes, we've had a hole and a lack of excitment in the city. Where are the options?
Now I'm excited because there's options. What's happened to the deep house scene(which I love)in Toronto. Look on other message boards how other Torontonians are lamenting the fact there's nowhere to hear deep house on a regular basis.
Look at Labour Day weekend for example. There are so many events going on where I have to go, "Damn how the am I going to budget my time because there are four parties I want to go to*". That's excitement.
* Kerri Chandler @ The Mod Club, Danny Krivit @ The Next Level, Sean Miller's Homecoming @ The Next Level, and oh yes, Tenaglia @ Guvernment
I shouldn't have to go to a party because there's nowhere else to go. That's how I felt this whole year. Now that there are options, everyone is like, "we had it good already". If you guys want the same old, same old stuff, fine you can settle for that. But I'm excited and that's my opinion.
If there wasn't this increased competition going on, we wouldn't have Tenaglia at Guv...we'd probably get served Deep Dish again. |

| Ever think the people WANT Tenaglia? |

| I too am excited with the future. This scene has been stagnant for a while now. |

I've been asking myself that since Sonic closed as well...and I also think things are finally looking shiny this fall. |

Exactly, you just proved my point.
He was booked because he is a desired DJ, but he was booked because there's increased competition.
Why hasn't he been booked here in the past two years? Why hasn't he played at the place he has been booked for seven years if he's so desired? Obviously, people had to turn it up a notch to get him...and that's exactly my point...the competition is good for this city.
So as much as you enjoyed the "scene" of the past year, watch how great it's going to be now... |

I never went to Sonic and have had a blast this summer. TBH, I haven't even really hit up too many Dance/House/Techno/Trance events period and I had a blast. I think you're to caught up being a 'scenester' rather than just a music lover. |

| I don't think he is here in result of competition. Maybe he hasn't been able to play here as of late? Maybe they didn't want him here, or maybe he didn't want to play here? I don't know, you don't know, no one knows but the people in direct contact. Meh, you should be grateful we have the scene we do. I think it's wonderful and always has something up its sleeve. |
