you got a deal! it'll be my best friend from italy, me and possibly tatgirl from toronto. since none of us know how to get around in london, or all of england for that matter. just pick a place and time and we'll all meet up there and head up together.

ok, all i need to know is your arrival details.
Will you be in England before the 27th?
or Will you get to England and go straight to the event?
I assume u will be landing at Heathrow. I live relatively near there, so i could meet and greet u peeps.
There are two options to get to GKGG, train or Coach. Coach is cheaper, but will take longer. The coaches depart from Victoria station, and trains leave from either Euston, Kings Cross or any one of the main stations. Either way, whichever one it is, I know how to get there.
And of course, we'll meet the rest of the UKTA's up there, won't we?! (hint hint) :D |

wow what great generosity, thanks so much!
ok heres the plan
my friend (Bengi) arrives on July 24th at 9pm at the other london airport (stratford???) and i arrive on july 25th at 6:20am (ouch) at heathrow.
The plan was for me and bengi to meet up somewhere in london (have no clue where) on the 25th in the mourning and then do whatever (probably try and locate a hostile). until the 27th we also wanna do a few "touristy" stuff. that's the plan at least but theres probably a better way to do it.... suggestions?
i have no idea about tatgirl but she'll be coming to heathrow possible at the exact same time as me (maybe one day after)
when we head to go to GKGG i dont mind taking the coach, i need to save as much as i can and even if its longer it'll probably give us an opprotunity to sleep or talk or something... maybe we can take the train back as we'll probably be whupped. |

oooh, its gonna be nasty if you and your mate are at two different airports. It's notoriously difficult to get to Stanstead airport if you live anywhere in South London. It takes about 1 and a half hours from Heathrow to get there.
My suggestion is, try and arrange for your friend to stay somewhere nearer central London. All the transport to GKGG will be based around there.
As for tourist-y stuff, there's plenty to do at Picadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Shaftesbury AVenue, and the like.
As for accomodation, off the top of my head, there's LOADSA hotels around Heathrow, but I'm not sure if they will be affordabel, cos they are the big massive ones. I.e Hilton, etc. But there's probably some smaller ones in the area.
There are trains and Tube's that go directly into London from Heathrow.
The best way of travelling is to get a "One Day Travelcard" It costs about £5 ($7-8) and entitles you to use all the Buses, Trains and Tubes for the whole day!
As for meeting and greeting, at 6:20 I'm still dead to the world :p
Nah, If you wanna meet up later on during the day, or the next day, give me a buzz on my cellphone ---> 07961050334
As for travelling up to GKGG, I don't mind. If only I'd passed my driving test, then I woulda been able to drive you lot up there!
I'll look up transport arrangements soon. I haveb't even bought my ticket yet! :whip: :whip: |

After reading all the posts on GCSSS, I'm so stoked for GKGG!!! Only 5 weeks to go!!!
Question for all you though, how easy is it to get from Euston station to Heathrow airport??? I come on the train to Euston at around 11AM and have to get to Heathrow by 1PM... will this be a problem? BTW, this is the day aftter GKGG (28th). Thanx! |

Heh, Londoners always think travelling from North - South of London is travelling to the ends of the earth :D
I find they often say journeys will take a lot longer than they do. If you're prepared to make transfers from tube/bus/train getting round London isn't that slow nor difficult, but transferring is a damn pain in the arse, espescially with heavy luggage. Last time I had to do it with all my fookin heavy luggage, my shoulders were knackered for the Dome event.
For people wanting to see London's sights, get on one of the tour buses. They have open top roofs (hopefully it will be sunny, but British weather is very awkward, in the last month in my area we've had sun, thunder and lightning, gales, sun, rain, in any random order, so don't expect anything, just take it as it comes) they don't cost a great deal, stop at each sight and give you time to explore, and you can keep your ticket and hop on the next bus. These are a pretty good way to have a quick look around London's sights in a day. Be very careful with your money in London though, be a cheapskate like me and ask prices in pubs etc before you buy, otherwise you will be royally shafted up the arse in the money department. They say Britain is a rip off country, but London is to blame for much of that reputation, everything costs a bomb and it is very worthwhile to shop about a bit. |

thanks for the tips e_b and dj_mdma
e_b - good advice on asking for price (at pubs and such) before i buy, i wouldnt have done that if you didnt say
mdma - i took down your cell phone number and ill be sure and give you a call, and dont worry i wont wake you up at some ungodly hour :p btw what's your real name?
anyways i kinda looked at some stuff on the internet. Me and Bengi will meet up in central london probably at a youth hostile (City of London, Earl's Court, St Pancras or any other ones in the area) so that we can put away our backpacks. i found out all i have to do from heathrow is take the Piccadilly line for about an hour to get to central london and for bengi he just takes a train and one of the tube lines. shouldnt be that bad. Im not into all the musems and stuff, i do wanna hit Dungeons of London and maybe a few other districts... ahh we'll see i usually dont plan much of that till im actually there. |
