you are correct sir...
I previously had Final Scratch 2.0 before Serato. I also used Traktor DJ Studio 2.6 with the Final Scratch System which was sweet.
Then when I bought the Intel MacBook, I waited patiently for an update b/c it wasn't compatible. And waited... and waited. Eventually Stanton and NI said that they were splitting ways and everyone who had a new Intel Mac was screwed. So I promptly sold it and purchased Serato Scratch Live.
Now I'm back to square one b/c they offered users of Serato or Traktor DJ Studio the system for $399 instead of $599 if you bought it in the first month of the release. |

| Serato never caught my attention but the new Traktor is making me consider migrating to it |

| Burning CDs is definitely a pain but I'm just fearful that I would show up to a gig and have nowhere to put my laptop. Is Traktor setup accessible for every mixer? |

Yeah honestly the whole burning CD’s thing is really starting to get on my nerves. If my PowerBooks didn’t get stolen a couple years back I would be using it in a heartbeat.
There are so many more tracks I would love to have at my disposal that I just never get around to burning. I wouldn’t worry about having a place to put the labtop and such. However nothing is more annoying then having someone hook up Scratch/Traktor/Serato while you are still playing. |

Lol - just a heads up for you Milo, both Traktor Scratch and SSL will do exactly what you're looking to do as far as combining CD's/Vinyl and Ableton :)
It's a big part of the reason I'm considering it, but probably won't jump simply because I don't have a laptop I'm supremely confident in. |

what would be sweet is if the Clubs invested in "part" of the setups so that they are already there and ready for digital DJs.
take a look at the cables for Traktor. The first set has a splitter that can be plugged in WITHOUT the audio interface attached which is unlike Serato. This means the club can have that cable hooked up for the DJs before the digital DJ and play no problem. Once the digital DJ shows up, all the have to do is hook up the second set of cables to the XLR connection on each cable and you are done.
I can't wait until that day. |
