When we do grocery, we use about 8-12 plastic bags, depending on how much food we buy... so am I supposed to carry that many reusable bags everytime? Those reusable plastic bags are given as a service to customers, its to make our life easier. If the hippies don't want to use them, well good for them, but don't force me to that also. What about bigger families who buy much more food than us?
This country is becoming more and more retarded like in europe... too many bans, too many rules and too much taxes. |

The people in Europe don't seem to have a problem using reusable bags. I had no problem when I lived there last summer, and believe you me...Cale and I would buy a LOT of groceries at a time living in Amsterdam.
As far as you using 8-12 bags each time...my assumption may be wrong, but I am assuming you would be driving a car to the grocery store if you guy that many groceries. I just leave the bags in the car, and then they're always there. It's not that hard to have to carry the bags into the grocery store and set them in the shopping cart as you shop.
Even if you take a cab or the bus, carrying empty bags with you doesn't seem like such a big deal (to me at least) if you can just set them in your shopping cart while you shop.
Also, the reusable bags come in various sizes, but I would say the standard is about the size of 2 or 3 regular plastic grocery bags, so you would in fact be carrying fewer bags. And if you're taking the bus...that would definitely be a benefit. Especially since they're made with better quality material and thus less likely to break. |

I bought one of these http://store.chicobag.com/product/o...-chicobag-green and I LOVE it.
It folds up into a pouch the size of my fist so its great to carry in my purse. It also holds more than it looks and can carry a lot of weight. I've used no more than 5 plastic bags in the last two months.
Grocery shopping I use the large sized bags bags you can buy at the grocery stores for about a dollar. I can fit all my groceries in 2 bags. I love that these bags are stronger and larger making it easier to walk home carrying two bags vs 8 plastic bags that end up breaking
(If you have a car you really have no excuse)
I love that I see more and more people using reusable bags :) |

lol thats funny you say that... I was thinking the same, since my stash is starting to run out. But my roomie still collects bags, Ill be okay.

Plastic bags are quite possibly the least likely man-made item on the planet to represent a serious problem to the environment.
Seriously, have any of you ever actually seen a landfill? Just one of the smallest landfills could easily hold the entire world's plastic bag consumption for thousands of years. The cost of banning them (effectively raising the cost of doing business for, um, everyone, and therefore raising the cost to consumers) is far, far greater than the cost of any highly speculative environmental problem they might cause (and there's zero evidence to support such a claim).
To suggest that we are "ing idiots" for using plastic bags is, well, ing idiocy. |

because otherwise I'd have to go and buy specific garbage bags, which are *gasp!* plastic too
so kind of not achieving anything, are we?
paper bags would be out of the question, because what I have something soggy in my garbage? it will make a mess in the bin |

I actually did a google search for reusable garbage bags and came up with nothing useful...just small cloth ones to use in bathrooms, your car etc. |

unbelievable!
you'd think that will this massive drive to cut back on plactic bags use they'd already think of what we can use instead of them to take the garbage out
surely they don't expect us to put the garbage directly into the bin, and then out like that? |
