I am Iranian. My family and ALL Iranian families that I know are so anti-drug that they would make the Evangelicals look like the ing Osbournes.
Don't generalize like that. |
Okay. So its not socially acceptible...But it happens... |

It is wrong because the kid is not aware of the dangers of smoking the drug. He can smoke opium as much as he wants and kill himself when he grows up. That would be his own choice.
Exactly |
Absolutely.
I don't believe anyone under 20 should drink or do any drugs; that is when your mind is developing and solidying itself and its neuralnets.
Then again, I'm not God, and I don't know of the potential positive results of modifying your psychology and physical brianmatter with drugs at an early age... it just seems like a generally bad idea. |

Education is the only solution, so I'm glad to see some of us are educated! |
Yes, because one must be so educated to rip something off of Wikipedia? |

I think he's trying to say that you're making iran out to be a boogie-man with a drug that is extremely socially unacceptable in the West.
Whereas, on the same token, in Iran giving a young child alcohol (a socially accepted drug in the west but not the east) would be the equivalent of injecting an American toddler with heroin in his eyeball.
Culture is a crazy thing, and very, very relational to the persepective of the culture itself. It's almost always judgemental. |

Exaggeration. Iranians love booze within reason. It's just the extremists that are being the asses that they have always been and probated it.
But, the adults have ways of getting together, hitting the bottle and dancing. |

Nah, I probably just misunderstood... it's all good.
Let's face it, *adults* in any culture are going to find ways to enjoy themselves and get high, whether it be alcohol for iranians, or opium for americans.
Sorry for the misunderstanding,
peace! |

It did come off that way but I'm really glad that you understood and accepted my point of view. Kudos to you. |

| maybe I should take out "Iranian" from the title ? I don't want to convert this into a West vs. Iran thread. I just want to express outrage at the people who give drugs to kids. This outrage is not directed towards any specific country or society. I'm not making any generalizations about Iran solely on the basis of this video. |
