lol, you mac people are seriously clueless (maybe that's the reason you buys macs). It's not his computer that posted it, it's this site's forum/database that is not configured properly that causes this error. |

Hey MK....The biggest reason you should get a MAC is because...well Macs can run Windows too now..so basically you have two computers/operating systems in one. And no..you dun have to get bootcamp software on it to run windows but you just get something called parallel desktop software. It is very cheap...one time payment of like 60-70 bucks or you can get it for free if you download it or get it off a friend...
Now, if you are not used to Macs...and find some things annoying in the beginning...you can always shift to windows and use ur macs for other things...you can take all the time u want to get used to the macs but in a couple of months you will urself shift to macs as u begin to understand how it really works.
I have been a PC user all my life and bought a MacBook Pro last year and even though it took me like a month to get fully used to it...once the transition is made...it is absolutely worth it.
Apart from all the basic advantages/disadvantages that others have talked about here...the best thing I find about the mac is that it really helps enhance your creativity. Its kinda hard to explain it but I'll try...we have been using windows all our life and are very used to it, there is nothing much new about...but once we get the mac..its completely new to us and so we begin exploring it, all the new softwares like ilife, iwork, and its a constant learning process...
Then you see all the things you can do on a mac which we never thought of doing on PC...some are simple things and others are more intense...and then as you get more familiar with the Mac and the new softwares, you start trying out new and different things and it makes the whole experience with the computer a lot more fun...
For example, once I started using iPhoto, iWeb... etc...I can't go back to PC again..and from an academic perspective...I found Macs much better for documents, presentations, etc...macs come with these beautiful templates, amazing presentation styles, which PCs dont...trust me if youre into something where you have to do a lot of presentations, submit documents and stuff for which you have been using Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc....you would be much happier with Macs version of the same programs...like Pages, Keynote...just check out their virtual tours...of these softwares and you will get a better idea of what I'm talking about...
The downside to the whole thing is the little learning curve that is required...but with time you wun even feel it and if you have some friends that use macs....you are sorted...hope this helped :) |

i don't understand this also, how do you get creative when you switch to a different operating system, how does a better graphic presentation of a program benefit your ability to learn or understand. What is so difficult in learning the applications on a PC that you need a mac to get it? and last but not least, why can't you run Mac OS on a PC if you really really want to?
ps. also someone please explain to me, how is Mac different from a PC from a hardware point of view that people say it's better? (apart from being a proprietary system). |

appart from that, Mac and a PC are absolutely the same , There is even an INTEL PROCCESSOR inside a mac, yes the same that is in a PC ffs, except mac is 1.5 times or more expensive. |

just so you know...there is alot more to computer than a CPU, let alone the intel cpus being used on macs are not top end stuff. |

bottom line:
- some might find the mac OS more stable, but then again it really depends on a PCs setup
- PCs are faster, more HW options available to make it even better, cpus, etc. and hundreds of other
- more SW with PCs, way more
- less virus available with Macs but then again with a good spy prog and firewall that could be avoided with PCs
- Macs have a few setups availabe, much less than PCs where you could have hundreds, which makes it easier to troubleshoot on a Mac
- some macs look cooler if thats what you want
- multiple tests on video apps, audio apps, photo apps prove top, mid PCs are better,faster than their mac rivals |

uuuhhhh...you could have the fastest quad CPU setup in the world but if your MB for example doesnt support it than there is no point...buses in mhz (size), proper cooling, overclocking, memory size and speed and MB's ability to handle it, chipsets and hundreds of different make up a good computer, not just a cpu |
