That was a ing awesome night, great crowd, great music, great space. Looks like I know where I'll be most Friday nights from now on.

Exposed has potential!

I ventured out into my first (soon to be many) visit last night, and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I honestly haven't felt at home at a venue since Sonic, and the combination of good vibes, good tunes, and good people easily made me feel welcomed. It's been quite a while since I've felt extremely comfortable at a club; my dancing was even enhanced somehow. My body was wiggling in ways that seemed physically impossible, haha. I've always been a fan of The Mod Club, and I think Carey & Gregor have found a winner.

One feature of the venue I always found entertaining were the lights, but this time around they really emphasized the performance of the deejay sets. There were more than a few occasions where I was enticed and awed by the light shows. The programming was pretty sick, specifically at one point during Brad Copeland's set when he dropped the breakdown of a track. At exactly that second, the lights changed into red-white, strawberry, swirl, mint circles. This was cool, because once the breakdown was dropped, there was a melody that sounded like dancing candy, haha. Also, how awesome were the visuals?! I couldn't take my eyes off of the screens.. they were trippy at some points, and at others it featured some women who looked like they were dancing to the track being played. The combination of both lights and visuals totally won me over. Oh...and the bubbles! There were lots and lots of bubbles falling sometime later in the night. Those were unexpected.

The place wasn't really crowded, but once it was past 1 am, it was moderately full; fortunately there was always room enough to groove. As far as sketch goes (sorry Jennypie but I couldn't help myself :p ), there wasn't much. There were a few retarded oddballs here and there, especially near the end, but the positive energy from the rest of the partiers overwhelmed the odds (pun intended). The people were beautiful! Lots of attractive faces I've never seen before which was pretty refreshing. The party ended sometime around 4:30, which was good considering my expected 3 am time.

The music throughout the whole night was progressively delicious. Jefferson Button started off with a little bit of sleaze, sometimes deep, and melodically bouncy. Just the way I liked it, and although it was early, I couldn't keep myself from dancing. I'd like to see a longer time slot for Jefferson in the future.

Brad Copeland was a great warmup deejay for Holosound. Typical Copeland prog, take it as it is. No complaints here, but he did surprise me towards the later half of his set with something different. He dropped a tribal track, and even some harder electro which caught me off guard. I found that it worked really well with the flow of his set.

Holosound lived up to my expectations. They played stuff mirroring their recent sets, which was great. Lots of happy progressive house, with a hint of real electro in there, and sometimes even trance-like. There were some sleazy electro tracks being dropped as well. It was a good set, but the later half of it wasn't pretty. There were too many breakdowns which then somehow turned into a commercial top 40 house set. Kind of a mood killer for me, but after losing most of the crowd, I could understand why they'd want to play around a bit, or perhaps play something different to get people going. There were always people going nuts though, so I found this instant change unnecessary. Oh well.. Their mixing was on definitely on spot though. I wouldn't mind checking them out again.

Cheers to these Exposed nights, and to Carey and Gregor. I look forward to what's in store! :clown:

Great review Chris :)

It really did feel like something was special in the air last night. Smiles everywhere, great energy from the crowd. Thanks to everyone who came out for this, the night was a HUGE success.

I'm so sore. The after party was mad. The Holosound boys came by to Chez Umar and we rocked it out back to back styles until 11am... it was all about the sleazy funk. Good until the cops came and threw down a $360 excessive noise fine.

LOL That's hilarious! Did they give the fine at 11am?!?!

Glad it was a success bro, wish I could have been there. I'm hating being back in Alberta:( :whip:

Super awesome night. Jeff opened it up with great style, Brad really got the night moving and the Holosound boys did what they do best, drop eclectic, party friendly bombs. Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and made it out and thanks to Jimbo for these awesome vids.
