From experience with the Canon Powershot SD 300 and 800, neither takes good videos in the club - at least in regards to audio quality. I'm assuming that's what you'll be using the videos for. Although the other features of the digital elph's are top notch...if video is your main priority, I would go for a Sony.

i agree, a friend of mine bought a new powershot and it sucks in terms of audio

Yes, I stand near the speakers... ;D Most of the videos you can tell when I'm in the pit or far enough back to get good sound.
My current camera was made in April 2004.

That's the audio my parents audio takes of Koolhaus. I think it's the best I've ever heard on a digital camera But as you can see, it's really dark and it picks up the lasers really poorly. If I could see all the lasers instead of like 10-15% of them, I'd be really happy.
Jeff, let me know if you find a camera that has both great audio and gets the lasers really well at guv.

The camera is fantastic. But if you want superb quality sound while you're right in the middle of the party, you will not get it. Make sure you cover up the mic while you film and it'll help some.
