put the hard drive into a zip lock bag
put it in a freezer for 2 hours
put it back in, and copy from it what you can, i guess in order of priority
not gonna last long, but this does work. |

rofl you guys are kidding right?
Kind of reminds me about the news post i read not long ago were a kid was told to 'cool down his xbox' by putting it in a plastic bag and lowered the bag into a pot of water with it turned on..
he lived if anyone cares.. I sure dont. Stupid idiot shouldn't have asked an internet forum for advice let alone listened to dumb advice.
I would recommend you put that hard drive into another machine as a slave, and install "Ontrack EasyRecovery™ Professional" on that machine and use it on your hard drive.. Your data is still technically there even if it has been deleted/formatted. Aslong as you havent written over it with new data.
You'd be suprised how can be recovered even when its in little peices. |

no this is 100% legit
if the hard drive isnt working and you cant read anything off it, it's what you do. |

Is the hard drive showing up in windows?
Have you tried putting it in another machine and accessing it?
Have you tried running an Ultimate Boot CD scan on it?
What brand is the hard drive? Maxtors usually die pretty fast
Can you describe the sound it makes? Is it clunky? or Clicky like it wants to blow up? etc |
