No offense but you clearly aren't a tennis fan if you say he "always" chokes. He wouldn't be so highly ranked if he sucks also keep in mind you can be a great player and never win a major or an alright player and been lucky enough to get a good draw. Personally I'm not a Roddick fan but I can respect his talent and his newfound dedication to raising his level of play by recruit Connors.
Ideally Rafa beats Federer on hard court but since that won't happen I would really like to see James Blake go far into the tournament this year. Djokovic would be a huge contender but he's apparently injured, Federer has been shaky (for his standards)through the hard court season, Nadal apparently has no energy and Roddick doesn't have the entire package...should be an interesting tournament on the men's side. As for the ladies, few of the tours top players have played much of the hard court series, lots of injuries and from watching the final of Hartford (tournament that has traditionally been a good indicator of the US Open) Kuznetsova was the highest ranked player and took her first title of the but hardly convincingly. Women's side should be an interesting one to watch, wide open. |

Ok miss sensitive...i'll start by saying that i am a tennis fan. Second, i'm going to reassert that roddick does always choke in the spot light. Sure, he can win little events when no one's watching, but the kid can't bring his A game to a match that matters. I know about his skills, but that's exactly why i said he chokes. He has the most powerful weapon in all of tennis and he can't capitalize upon it. Last years open he played inspired tennis for all of one set. For me, he's ridiculously difficult to get behind, but i'll always do so because he's an american in an increasingly european dominated sport. |

| Oh I'm not sensitive, I reply on facts. Roddicks doesn't ALWAYS choke...case in point the 2003 US Open, he won. His career singles record is 401-126, he's reached the final of four majors, done well in "little tournaments" plus he is playing in the era of Federer. Like I said he's not one of my favorites but he can be entertaining to watch at times...not as great as Rafa though ;) |
