Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but for all those who are saying Danny is arrogant and unprofessional for writing such emails - if he had been calm and professional, this issue wouldnt be getting nearly the exposure it is.
by using such langauge and carrying on like he did, he guaranteed that it would become a massive issue on forums such as this.
if he had simply written an email to all his producer / dj buddies saying "I am very upset that someone recorded my set, this is who they are, I advise you not to deal with them" then we wouldnt be talking about it right now.
i take my hat off to him for attracting attention to an issue he is obviously passionate about

He also attracted tons of attention to the set that he's so upset was recorded. By sending out these childish rants, he's just increasing the exposure of the videos and recorded sets that he doesn't want people to access.
Since almost everyone else in the industry releases a set every once in awhile, I'm sure they don't think it's as big of a deal as what he'd like it to be. People aren't going to stop playing that club just because he says so. They're just going to watch out for this sort of thing when they do if they care.

Yes, hats off to him for attracting negative attention to himself. Most people see him as a tool because of it. You don't need to attract attention to a situation like this. If you want to a club over you can do it quietly. This certainly wasn't the type of attention Tenaglia was looking for.

I wouldn't want a video of myself doing this floating around the internet either.

Danny who? This guy needs to get a grip, and I second that motion of a waaamulance :)

So why doesnt he like people recording his sets?
Because the music he plays is uber underground. It's so underground in nature that no one has ever heard of the producers because they all live in exotic countries. You cant even find these on slsk!
And enough of that 'Ey, look ah meh, Ima Italian' , it's really annoying and I had enough of it around World Cup time.
What a cocky bastard.

After watching that three times I feel better knowing that I can be a professional DJ.

Obviously the only possible solutions to this problem were:
A. Write a long, arrogant, childish diatribe on the internet.
B. Write an email.
...right?
I'm not so sure you know this, but FFS, there's a reason people have contracts in the first place - so that they can pursue reasonable and legal meanas of pursuing justice rather than simply whining like a and having the majority of the industry laugh at you.
Do you really think any of the attention Tenaglia has gotten is the type he really wanted?

Most of you laughing at him must be n00bs then. Knowing DT's personality, as a fan, is no different than knowing that Tiesto or Armin will do the Christ-pose while spinning, or that Infected Mushroom will do the hand-chop thing. I can dig up dozens of emails and posts and bulletins like this, and worse than this, that he's released, it's quintessential Danny. That video posted up with him waving the flags, he released a bulletin about that too.
Anyone who knows ANYTHING about DT knows that he's not a DJ to be taken advantage of. Anyone who's a true house fan sees the release of a DT set as the end of the world, because it's such a rare occurence. So, if a club goes behind his back with a hi-fi recording, if he doesn't react this way, other clubs won't take him seriously about that issue, which he's been consisten about for years.
If you think he's a diva, you haven't seem some of the other older house DJs in New York, but that's another issue. To a diva, any sort of attention is good attention. Most of you probably don't even know that most of the legendary house DJs in New York have been gay, so this divalicious response should come as no surprise. You take it with a grain of salt; if you see DT in the right venue with the right crowd, it could be one of the best nights of your life, guaranteed.

None of what you posted justifies acting like a child, nor does it convince me that acting in such fashion will effectively stop this from happening again (in fact I'm personally dying for an opportunity to record a Tenaglia set and get him riled up so easily).
Hell you even say yourself...

Wouldn't being consistently "ed over" by clubs indicate that the way he's acting is simply not accomplishing his intended goal? Also...

1. We all already knew that.
2. Way to force an entire group of people into a stereotype. Very open-minded of you.

Have you ever been to a Junior Vasquez or Jonathan Peters or REAL Danny Tenaglia party? I'm straight, but some of the Junior parties that I've been to have been the most legendary parties I've ever been there, despite the fact that he turned off the music for 15 minutes and got on the mic saying "There's too many fish in the sea" (too many girls in the room)... Uh, that my friend is acting like a diva, and you know what, it makes a night with that particular DJ something special, because you never know what that DJ is gunna pull out in his bag of circus tricks (Danny waving the flags, or Junior playing a random disco song in the middle of a set)... I think it must be a New York thing, because elsewhere people laugh when Danny does something wacky, but here, we understand that as part of his act and love him more for it.
A Sven Vath set in England is a fraction of the amount of "special" that a set in his hometown would be. That's what my point is. And I say "consistently" not because he gets ed over and over and over again... You don't see DT sets all over the internet on a monthly basis... That's exactly my point, he's achieved his objective... Last time I saw a DT set was leaked was a good year and a half ago, and people later found out it was mislabeled, it was the opening DJ before him (that's why it sucked)....
And as far as knowing most NYC legendary house DJs are gay, I honestly don't think most of the people on this board know that.
