Well not really stealing, but Microsoft is running a promo in which you can get Office 2007 Ultimate for $60 (SIXTY DOLLARS, but US $ I'm assuming - still barely over $60 CAD). This retails for $690, people.

All you have to do is be currently enrolled in post-secondary education and have a valid email address from said school.

You people that say 2007 sucks are masochists and obviously hate efficiency and a user friendly GUI. Oh, and the ability to make awesome looking documents with less effort than 2003. You must LOVE hunting through dropdown menus.

many companies offer education discounts.

Office has been available for some time at a *highly* discounted rate, although this is certainly the lowest offer I've yet seen...nice!

Ableton is something like 50% off if you provide proof of your student status when ordering direct.

Apple.com and Apple.ca (and their stores) offer educational discounts as well.

For *any* software or hardware, I'd inquire about educational discounts and even professional affiliation discounts if you work for a major company of any kind. You'd be surprised at how many poorly advertised opportunities there are out there!

I have a retail copy of Office 2003 which I got through work for $30. Although it would be nice to have a newer copy, I don't see the need of shelling out an extra $60.

But, this is a great offer, especially if you do not actually own a copy already.

Common support those hard working code monkeys that M$ enslaves.

Gotcha. Have you no recourse against them for such an occurrence?

Being a UW student, I get a load of free and discount software from Microshaft.

One of the fringe benefits, I suppose
