MOST IMPORTANTLY - - MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS SPELLED CORRECTLY, and YOU USE CORRECT GRAMMAR. don't underestimate how important this is.
|
to add to that: have a few people check out your resume, they'll catch glaring errors that you'll miss from time to time |

I really didn't know that someone could get so animated about resume tips...I am just trying to help the guy but since you are the expert of resume tips, there is no point for me to make any more suggestions. |
Sorry I do this for a living so I thought my suggestions might help. The reason I am a recruiter is because I love helping people get jobs and I have seen so many great candidates get passed over because they put a low GPA on a resume or something stupid like that that shouldn't matter if you have a great resume, I am just trying to help out. Unless you are on the side of the recruiter you really don't know what is being looked for and to go based on the assumptions of others is not right because each field is different and what is right for one job (resume) is not right for the next and what works for one person might hurt the others.
I got so animated about the GPA thing is because you kept on stressing it and over and over again and it was mentioned that might not be the right thing to do. I don't want to see this person lose out on a job because they got the wrong information. |

a high GPA only helps when you're applying for jobs right out of school
after that, it doesn't matter |

as a general statement maybe that's correct, but there are specific jobs you can't get without a high gpa. with prestigious jobs your gpa will follow you. |

I have recruited for Fashion and Legal positions, as well as internships and entry level positions.
Currently I am recruiting at a law firm in times square. |

| i would list all experience, it shows continuity - don't have unexplainable holes. just elaborate more on the relevant ones. for the rest: company name, role, and dates would suffice |
