More later, but for now I just have to say that night was right up there with the best of 'em.

As close to a perfect night out as I have ever experienced. I have no idea how you can top a 7-hour set from Howells -- one of the preeminent DJs in the world, at the top of his game -- in a small venue like Footwork. The perfect number of people with tons of room to dance, which was totally unexpected. Unreal.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I went in with high expectations....and they were met. Howells played such a smooth, well calculated set. His transitions from funky, to prog, techno and back around, seamless. I was in my tunnel...riding that train....i couldn't stop dancing. By about 2 o'clock, I turn to my buddy and say: "As long as Howells doesn't f*&% it up before the end...this is going down as my party of 2007."

Well he didn't f*&% it up!

Oh...that earlier comment about him playing to proggy near the middle of his set.... Danny is a prog DJ.... so.... that's what he's gonna play at some point....;)

I have seen Howells play as part of a larger list of DJs at the Guv, but this was an out of body experience compared to that night.

Danny Howells played the closest thing to a PERFECT set...all 7 hours! I simply could not believe the consistency with which he took us on this journey. It blew my mind...you could clearly tell because my jaw did not leave the floor for over 6 hours. It was hard to time bathroom breaks or go out side to cool off. There were very few "weaker" tracks, of which there were maybe 4 during the entire set (weaker tracks by him still killed anything the likes of Danny T or anyone else has recently played as "strong" tracks"), were welcome respite from the (sometimes)stuffy air and bulging bladder.

I consider myself fairly well educated on progressive and tech house and I only recognized FOUR or FIVE tracks over the entire 7 hour set! Wow, where do you come up with all that great , Danny??

Danny had a very consistent pattern where he played about 3-4 funk/prog tracks, and then would drop a tech bomb. I noticed he did this throughout the evening, and the frequency of tech bombs increased slightly during the last hour or two...brilliant "progressive" programming that built an elegant set that carried the crowd from beginning to end. It was art. It was serene.

To the people at Footwork (Stefan and the rest), great f&*@ing job on upgrading the sound system and reinforcing the walls, that place has really come a long way from where it was before. It is now my new favorite venue for music.

And, btw, I am happy to pay the $30 or $40 to get in to the club...I think it limited the crowd to only loyal fans of the genre and the DJ and made the whole night much more fun.

CLUB OWNERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE: If you expect us to pay a substantive cover charge, don't oversell tickets. That night could have been spoiled if the place had been overpacked (i.e. like the Guv). Luckily it was not, lets keep it that way and not get greedy.

I felt there was more bad than good....The vibe in the place was great and there was plenty of room to dance..But as for the tunes I wasn't really feeling them..And after seeing Lawler destroy it on friday night Howells just couldn't compete

I think we can clear up this situation with one simple question: Were you at Danny Tenaglia at Labor of Love this year and did you think that was a good set?

This was easily the best extended Danny Howells set I've heard; easily beating the 2 previous times at System (RIP) on New Years and in April 2005. I don't think I've ever been this "shell-shocked" after a Danny Howells party as I've been after this one. Well, there was that party in Poland but that just isn't fair to compare.

Now I'm even more hyped for Burridge in 3 weeks... :D
