I have to totally disagree with you on that one.

I usually don't react to a lot of posts but when I read this one I have to say, Ryster, ARE YOU HARD OF HEARING or do you simply lack good taste in House Music???

The party was about one thing and one thing only = HOUSE MUSIC AND ITS FOLLOWERS.
Howells did what DJ's are supposed to do, he dropped tracks that a crowd would normally never hear anywhere else or by anyone else. It's not about being able to hear the same tunes you hear on beatport or on your computer. If you wanted to do that, just stay home.

Sorry to those who did not have a good time, your ticket would have been put to better use by somebody else.

What Danny did Saturday night is a perfect example of a great 7 hour set. It started off with ripples of progressive and then BOOM, he'd hit us with a tsunami of bassline.

Danny is the Manny!

Toronto finally got a sweet injection of great tunage and it was thanks to a lil' gem called Footwork!

That is all.

Not necessarily. Some people just need more time...

...but ya, it does boggle my mind a little bit as to how someone didn't enjoy it. I've seen Danny like 10 or 11 times. Last time I missed him play in Toronto was...........2003 I think. And while it hardly makes me an authority on him (considering Amanda saw him like 30 times or w/e, LOL), this was easily the best set I've heard him play in Toronto.

Every time I left a Howells party I was always left wanting more, because it was never quite good enough to what I know he's capable of. Saturday night was different though.

don't get me wrong, next day at work all i could think about was how awesome it would be if he played another extended set on sunday night, but at the same time i was completely satisfied.

Yeah, I don't think so...you pretty much like Howells after the first time you see him or not at all, IMO.

I bet there may be a direct correlation: if you weren't happy with Howells at Footwork, you probably LOVED Danny T at Labor of Love this year. Danny Howells was an amazing symphony of warm melodic sounds and hard hitting prog/tech house IMO, while Danny T's set was pure GARBAGE.

Ok.....where to start

Starting off a few weeks back I knew of prog; listened to a few sets but it just didn't impress me back then... I was listening to it all wrong :p

I had my mindset on seeing Marco V the whole time, and I mean pretty much the WHOLE few weeks right untill 8:34pm sat night when I woke up from my dream about how good howells would be at footwork if I went to see him. This was after a lot of attempts at persuasion and threats to kidnap me/drug me and take me to see howells because this was NOT an event to miss apparantley....and boy was I ever glad to miss out on Marco V (again...).

The progression and added layers of music throughout the night was just a pure blissful mind, and at points in time I couldn't believe the sounds coming out of the speakers. Danny Howells at footwork this saturday is what i can mark on my calendar as the day that I advanced furthur into EDM grasping onto prog.

Ever since FW and the boat cruise yesterday I've gotten a whole new description and meaning to prog and I will continue on this pathway for a while to come!

Can't really explain it enough but it was definately one of my top parties and definately changing in my EDM perspective. :disbelief

Great review. Just one little correction: there was a whole lot more than just "prog". I wouldn't really refer to Danny as a prog DJ.
