Lease or Own

I have always owned my vehicles....I've never even considered leasing as its not reasonable for me as I travel too much.

Just wondering who leases and who owns.

im sure both have its pros and cons, but i believe if you run your own business leasing isn't a bad option when you're able to expense the costs while still using it as a personal vehicle.

Other than that I would probably own since at least you're getting some equity.

Always owned...love to drive and I don't like restrictions. Maybe if I work/live downtown I might change.

Leasing my current Yaris.

In the end, if I buy out my lease outright when its all over, the premium I paid to lease over financing it was like around $1,000 give or take, if I recall correectly.

To me, that premium was worth the value to me of the reduced monthly payments each month I have make over the next five years.

I spent a GREAT deal of time considering which option I wanted to go, and how much each option was going to cost me in the end, everything in and considered.

:)

edit: i have a 24,000 km allowance.... which was great. before i bought, even factoring 3 trips to toronto a month for an entire year, i still wouldnt go over the alloted 24,000 a year i was allowed. that was key. i couldnt have myself going over my clicks w/ all my driving to TO... its not worth it, if u decide not to buy out ur vehicle at the end (hefty price for km's over ur limit if u turn it in)... but if u plan to buy it afterwards, it really doesnt matter at all.

+1

Leasing an Acura CSX. My payments are less than $300 a month w/ taxes and everything all in. Definitely wouldn't be able to afford to of owned it.

I lease and i dont have any limits on kms :)

I own, but when i get a new car (probably next yr) i'm seriously thinking about leasing instead of owning.
Zentac_75
I own...but have full intentions on leasing and expensing it to the company in the near future.

own, but that's because I bought it used. :p

Although I'd still go with owning in the future - I like owning things rather than renting them. Plus, then you can mod your car.

+1 on both points.

I own both of mine. It's cheaper to own if one plans to have them for more than 3 years, otherwise leasing is better.

As far as affordableness.... purchase financing is available at the dealers, but NEVER accept this option. It's fixed interest over the whole term and a ripoff. Get financing from a bank, it so much more flexible, and the dealer prefers you not go through there (they don't get a big kick-back from your loan application).

I bought my current winter car brand new and payed 384 per month all included, and I actually owned the whole car after 4 years. I've been riding it payment-free for the last 7 years.

Thats one of my reasons for Leasing. I don't want to keep a car for more than 3 years.

After 3 years I've had enough and just want a new car haha.

Leasing vs. buying completely depends on the individual and what their intentions are w/ the car. There are so many Pros and Cons to both!

Personally, I like the mileage restrictions haha. Stops me from driving too much and spending so much on gas.
