I don't know what your current cellphone use while driving laws are, or what they'll be, but they're cracking down around here. As a result I've been looking at bluetooth headunits.
I used to have a Pioneer deck, and loved it. Great tunability and great sound output.
I just recently came upon this one however, and it seems to be getting good reviews. Has USB and bluetooth built in. Not bad for the price:

| forgot to mention... if you're not familiar with it already, check out www.crutchfield.com - great resource when you're shopping for audio and electronics. when i bought my Kenwood Z919 off eBay it didn't come with a users manual but i found out everything i needed to know by reading the Hands-On-Research section for that specific model on their site. |

+1 on the love for Pioneer
i'm still pissed that whoever broke into my first car stole the faceplate from my Pioneer head unit. i loved that thing. |
haha, probably the same arsehole that stole my pioneer head unit and not the faceplate which was in my handbag... I think I was burned more by the fact it was full of really old trance mixes from about 2001 which I liked and will probably never find again. :(
Just get another pioneer, they're very cheap and work just fine.
Which is a good thing considering how often people seem to steal them  |

Holy hell, that site is in depth. Thanks guys for the link. It even has installation videos, which could become very useful if I find myself in over my head.
Alright, so it looks like Alpine or Pioneer are the 2 brands of choice.
One last question. If I just hookup my ipod via the USB (instead of the custom cable for ipod hookup) on the head unit, would that also charge the ipod at the same time or would it just run off of battery life?
If it charges it like it does when you hook it upto your computer that would be friggen awesome.
Once again all, thank you for your time. I appreciate all the information you've provided. :) |

with electronics you get what you pay for. you get a ton of bells and whistles for nothing you get a ty product. you get average amount and medium price its normally a good product. you rarely pay a ton for nothing in the electronics arena.
JVC headunits seem to have ty sound at high levels or with high quality sound systems unless you get competition stuff. i have never heard a good JVC based setup personally. |

Wow, I'm glad my thread helped someone else besides myself as well. I was also a little hesitant to ask the question here instead of a car audio forum, but you guys really came through with some really valuable information.
Thanks once again all. :) |
