Car CD Deck Recommendations

Hi all, I'm getting a '94 Honda Prelude, and the CD deck in this car is very old and lackluster (I don't even think it can support Burned Disks).
I'm looking at a new CD Deck that can support MP3/WMA along with being ipod compatible. In my previous car I had a sony deck that had AUX input for an ipod, but I would like a deck that has a better sound alternative to that of a 1/8" mini jack (ala plugs into the ipods usb interface).
I've seen some decks online thus far having those features, but I see the head units that do support this feature seem to take control of the ipod itself instead of being able to still use the ipod interface.
Why this troubles me, is because most of the music I listen to on my ipod are live sets. With the rotational wheel on the ipod you can fast forward through a set very quickly, however if the head unit takes over control and you can't use the ipod interface to do this any longer.
I'm pretty much asking for the best of both worlds where I can still use my ipod interface instead of the decks, but also have it connect to the deck through the USB interface on the bottom of the ipod instead of the 1/8" mini jack and also have the ipod be able to be charging at the same time.
Does anyone know of a particular deck that can fulfill all of these requests. Price isn't too much of an issue if the deck is available, however I don't want to spend any more money than neccesary to get the job done.
Thanks for you help all. :) |

Alpine for sure
My alpine cda9857 works flawlessly with my ipod and plays mp3/wma cd's |

Pioneer is making some sick right now. Of course, when are they not?
Alpine is nice, and they're finally keeping pace, but Pioneer runs the show. |

| i got a sweet pioneer that has visualizations, plus you can download software to create your own visuals, put on a cd, then will show up on your head unit |

ouch they wanted that much for it?! im with you on that then. no point. mine was that much and it was brand new. now its a year old.
highly suggest ebay or some online e-tailer. it will be a lot cheaper than the store and I have seen some good bundles before too.
if you go pioneer get one with the "usb" options. it allows for ANY usb based player or hd to be plugged in and be used. highly reccommended. my buddy has one and loves it. |
