I love freestyle. It's mainly popular within the latin community especially in cities like Miami and New York and is a direct offshoot of electro and breaks depending on the track. Freestyle music is heavy on vocals and the lyrical content was usually about love, heart-ache, breakups, and relationships. The majority of freestyle artists are hispanic.

and the genre isnt dead, their are a few euro and freestyle singers out their in places like the US and europe doing shows and making music, their is still a fanbase who enjoys the music, i still do.

EuroDance is alive. DJ Sammy, Cascada, and DHT are prime examples. So is Basshunter O-zone, E-Type, etc.
Euro-Dance takes its influences both from Pop and elements from House and Trance.
Eurodance is very cheesy, but unlike Freestyle it's been able to adapt its sound and melodies to whatevers hot in general. Freestyle records on the other hand were always overly obsessed with Afrika Bambaataa and Freez's "IOU". There was also a period in the mid 90s with Nu-Freestyle where every record sounded like Planet Soul's "Set U Free".

I remember KTU playing a bunch of freestyle tracks all the way till summer '05 when I moved out of NY. My boys tell me they still play it to this day. I wasn't surprised to hear that radio stations still play it in the Bay and Cali.

I'll never forget seeing the young Latinos and Italians playing it back in the early 90s ,especially around NY's Morris Park ave, East Tremont and Eastchester/Pelham Parkway areas where it was bumping all the time. Freestyle an House were always my favorite genres at that time. It's funny you guys mention epic House, especially the old BT sound, that was top notch.

The 1992 remix to this TKA track is one of my favorite dance tracks to this day.
Oh and CHRles, I know that Eurodance is still alive, but freestyle and Eurodance are noticably different. Here's a example of a Euro dance track and you'll notice the difference in the sound and structure.
