Does anybody in here Scuba at all?
I've signed up through my University course to do my PADI Open water and Advanced open water. Had my evaluation for the course last week which went fine. |

| Last weeks assessment was pretty amazing. We had to swim 200m and tread water for 10 mins to make sure we were confident in water. But then we put the gear on and had a swim around the pool, its amazing how different it is...really good. We have some Quarry dives in about a month i think. Bit nervous about the "Advanced open water" test as it involves a 30m (100ft) dive. |

I went scuba diving once, up on the Great Barrier Reef. It was so beautiful, I can't even put it to words.
The main reason I can't put it to words is because, apparently, my ears are not made for diving.
Oh, the pain.
you [Mr diving man] and your "Just hold your nose, and blow, it equalises you" routine. What they actually mean is "stab yourself in the eye, it will detract from the pain of equalising."
It was still amazing. Despite the hurties :/ |

You're going to love it! _Everyone_ I know that has taken the PADI OW course enjoyed it a lot :)
Did the PADI Open water course in Koh Tao (Thailand) 2 months ago myself. Didn't have time to do the advanced course but did a single night dive too. That one is a dive I really recommend! Awesome to see different animals sleep on the coral reefs etc :wtf: Saving the advanded course for another holiday in another part of the world :)
Sushipunk: I'm jealous! The Great Barrier Reef is a place I'd really like to dive down to soon :) But didn't your instructors tell you about different ways of equalizing? Some divers apperently wiggle their jaws.. And I do a weird kind of yawn which works fine :clown:

Occrider does it a bit.
Personally I think there's probably easier, less expensive ways of drowning oneself if I ever felt the need |

same here, regarding the pain. I was pretty upset when I saw other divers just swimming around. Each foot of descent was a torture for me. Then, to add to my humiliation, I started vomiting while still under water. I panicked and quickly went to the top. I somehow climbed onto the boat and just laid there. Afterwards, I had to be carried onto the beach. |
