Eco & Marco V [REVIEW]
View this Thread in Original format

Undeniably one of the top three parties of the year...Marco banged it out from the moment he hit the decks and spun a lot of his own productions which was just awesome and carried a crazy energy throughout his set. Marcello spun a good opening set and an even better closing set. I had a ridiculous time...more once I've slept.

Negative: Hip hop and EDM shouldn't mix...

Glad you had fun!!! And yeah, you're right about the hiphop/EDM thing, I can only hope someone gets Marco V the next time for a smaller room to keep one sound in one club :) I'm not gunna review the party, since you all know I had a blast!! Beastly sets all around is all i have to say...

marcello had a really nice opening set which i managed to record, and i will fix it up a little and get it uploaded with his consent of course. My only complaint is that he should have watched his lows a little more during transitions, but then again he was under a lot pressure and i was listening pretty closely. though overall it was a great set and i dont think marco could have asked for a better opening act.

as said before marcos set was just bomb after bomb, nothing wrong with it at all and you could feel the energy of the set anywhere you were. despite having some problems with the firmware updates on the mk3s causing a delay in marcos set i couldnt find anything wrong.

the place overall had a great atmosphere i have to say, this being my first time in avalon and i had heard a lot of mixed reviews about the place, i see how the hip hop was a problem; but honestly what can you do since not everyone has the same taste in music and everyone came to equally have a good time.

And btw, Marco V's set was top 3 so far this year, behind maybe Simon Patterson, and someone else who I'm sure was amazing.... He wow'ed me and totally went 400% above my expectations... I was expecting some wannabe minimal electro snoozecore, because of some of the outdated sets I have from last year, but as far as New York City's concerned, Marco V hasn't changed a THING!
WANG HOLLA
unbelievable sets from marcello & marco v :D i wasnt expecting alot from marco either but he completely blew me out of the water. banger after banger. it was hard to stop dancing haha. def agree on the whole hip hop/ edm crowds getting mixed up because that line outside was ridicoulass! i understand marcello & marco v are gunna bring a crowd reguardless but it whuda been 10X shorter without the people for the hiphop. or in some cases knowin someone towards the frunt of the line & cuttin in (WAi!) haha :) but absolutely lovedddd marcellos set def am dying for the link & full tracklist hint hint.. haha & cant wait to get some marco v again!!

werd i was expecting the same thing out of him the more electro/minimal with very few techy stuff
not like the marco v from 03/04 where it was redic tech bomb after tech bomb
boy i was wrong he layed the smackdown
but as for avalon its a dump
the line outside is a mess no managment wat so ever they have 2 lines once u get closer to the front the bouncer says guys on right girls on left
so all the guys that were on the girls line who did not know were skipping me
the bouncers should have formed a better line
the crowd inside was dog
no one knew who the djs were and what kinda music was being spun
95% of the main floor was cracked out asians
the syestm was better then last time i was there the highs were a lil too distored but overall it was ok
eco you spun a good set glad to see you added some trance into ur opening set not just prog
but yea as for marco v hes deff not where he used to be as for his sound
but hes gettin back to it only complaint about his set was he was throwing down some cheesy ass electro vocals and i did not like the way he ended his set very weak

good seeing all the nyta's
gmoney, rory, molly, tom, starsoprano, wai, colabri i deff had fun in our own lil circle
MeLLyMeL

Agree with everyone, Marco's set was flawless. I would have been happy just hearing Red Blue Purple in a big room, but he just kept going and going. Never a dull moment. I think the only set that made me as happy was Sander van Doorn, and maybe not as much. I missed Marcello opening, but the closing was excellent.

I didn't notice any of the negatives that people have mentioned. Or i noticed them but they didnt bother me. Loved the space, decent size crowd, good sound.

Few things took my attention away from the music, but Andrew on the go-go platform was definitely a hilarious distraction. Please do post the pictures.

Thanks to Polly, Wai, Erica, Tom, Heather and Ben for the most bizarre and entertaining post-party breakfast to date.

^hip hop/edm weirdness was bad because a lot of the guys in the hip hop room keep coming in during Marco's set and grabbed away at you like they had a right. I did my fair share of swatting hands and poor Polly clearly said "go away" multiple times and this one kid kept following her around the dance floor...The line was absolute craziness, I was so confused by all the people in urban wear, the bachelorette party and the rest of the crowd...If it wasn't for Katie and Mike I would have been in that freaky line for half an hour. Thank you :D!!!

The Cir du Soleil randomness at the end of Marcello's set/beginning of Marco's set was interesting but I paid more attention to that switch. Yeah the crowd sucked BUT the music was excellent and I had a great time. Good seeing people out having a good time.

As for the breakfast crew, great idea!
