How not to DJ

Last night I went to a local high school dance. It was so bad. The DJ was using some ty denon CD player, a stanton t.50 TT, stanton 2.01 mixer, and his mac book. You could tell all his music was stole by the quality and the occasional radio talker over the music or couple of seconds of silence. He tried to do the whole break down effect by turning off the table, but it failed horrible, because well you just don't do it when everyone is dancing and what not. So yeah, basically, what are your experiences with a really bad DJ? Like honestly this guy was so bad last night how did he even get paid.

At least people were dancing. I've been to several school dances and they all pretty much sucked.

Let me recount all of the "WTF" moments:

Middle School:

This DJ was some friend of one of the teachers and probably wasn't getting paid at all. He was like a wedding DJ, but he would take requests from anyone. So some dumb girl insists on Country, so we got country. Lo and behold no one danced, not even the girl that requested the song.

8th grade graduation party:

I can't remember what the DJ played, but none of us guys wanted to dance so we all went outside and messed around with our skateboards.

High School:

The DJ gets on the mic and says he's going to place some trance. It was absolutely terrible; it was probably a tune he made an hour before coming to the gig.

I know a horrible DJ that plays here in Cleveland. I will not name him though. He doesn't know about music or equipment. I've never heard him sync the tracks perfectly and there is no flow to speak of in his "sets." Putting on windows media player would be better then letting this guy play. The only reason why I ever went to parties where he played was because it was very easy to get in without the ID. There were also some hot girls there. It's a shame that there is so much talent here in Cleveland and they let these douche bags play and hold residencies.

i actually witnessed such a dj when i went out to a small nyc club, not saying the name.. but the dj was playing top40 and i dont konw why he had hsi heapdhones on he was definately using ableton for his mixing and poor at it
simply because there was no "MIXING" it was just cutting from track to track every 30seconds.. id even give him the benefit of the doubt if hehad some form of trackflow or good trakcs.. but this guy was playing something "energetic" and then dropped to practically an acapella on a climax

ouch :(
DOOMBOT
Gabriel & Dresden are probably the worst djs I've ever seen live.
