Hey what kind of parties happen at GUV for new years ? do they book big Dj's ? Or do they just have a regular night with locals ?
Also I just read in the Van Dyk thread that the GUVERNMENT is closing ? In all seriousness is that true ? I've heard the rumor before but everyone always jokes around it. And if it does close when would that be ? |

NYE @ guv is residents.
guv is not closing. that rumour has been going on for years and guv has never closed on their predicted date. some people say that guv is gonna close because they are building condos across the street. a friend of mine that is a crane operator told me that its not condos that are being built, it is a concert hall. |

NYE at Guv is always locals. haven't had a headliner since Max Graham about 4 or 5 years ago now!
and Guv is not closing anytime soon.
There are condo's being built nearby. Yonge and Queen Quay and also Jarvis between Queen Quay and Esplanade is slated for a new development as well.
However, it's going to be at least a few years before either is done, and even when they are, there's still enough distance between them and guv that noise might not be a problem... not that it would be with the music being inside ;) |

guv isn't going to close any time soon, but it will in the next 2 years or so imo. that's when redevelopment will start to kick in. it's all systems go all around it which includes, pier 27, corus/project symphony, and market wharf @ 18 lower jarvis. a bit farther east they are building filmport. so the revitalization of east bayfront, port lands, and the west don lands is fully underway.
so don't worry, there are still plenty of parties left. |
