you're right Markus.. Bal en Blanc did not produce the movie, nor did it have any involvement in the script. The directors asked for the permission to film some scenes at the event, but the film is NOT about Bal en Blanc as you already know, it's about 2 cuties who fall in love, and who happened to meet at Bal en Blanc.

If you happen to have had the opportunity to study the scenario, either in school or as a full fledge comedian, you'll surely agree that the movie is actually a pretty good readaptation of that Shakespearian drama..

And this topic is not really about Romeo and Julliett either... so back to the upcoming 14th edition of Bal en Blanc..

i agree the film was an ok adaptation of the original... I like how they modernized the times, but... the dialog/writing and acting was not up to par for quebecois films

look at films like crazy or invasion barbare... le rocket or ma fille, mon ange... these films showcase the talented actors quebec has

the lead actors are not strong enough to support the film... that is.... excluding pierre cuerzi...

when the writing breaks down it makes even the most plausible scene feel dull and forced

the guy sees her once at a party and starts stalking her? they literally share 3 lines of dialog up until half way through the film when they're supposed to then be in love

BUT BACK TO BEB14444444

It's all about the gay dollar, folks. Bal en Blanc started off as a gay oriented event, so kudos for Bal en Blanc for keeping to that. If you were to put someone who brings too many "straights" then there goes the essence of BeB. For us straight Househeads on here, at least we now know to not expect the crazy bookings you're seeing in the other room.

Yes, he IS brutal.

Anyways, when Bal en blanc talks about "corporate image" in that well written post, all you have to do is see who's sponsoring this event. From a business standpoint, you would want your brand to reach out to as wide a market as possible, no?

So I see that Molson Dry was one of the sponsors for Black and Blue, and Heineken and Red Bull are sponsors for BeB, to use two examples. So of course, you'd think they would also promote keeping the gay vibe alive at Bal en Blanc, so that maybe ties into the bookings, somewhat. Gays, especially the older ones you see at Bal and BnB, are generally a very affluent group of ppl. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

the thread title says it all: Man-date :p

Personally, all I care about is if the djs perform well and drop some floor shaking beats. Victor Calderone appeals to everyone, he'd be a good choice too :)
