Anyone know of a good place to get one repaired?
I've got one that will read and play CDs.. you can pause it.. and you can use the skip and search buttons.. but nothing else will work.

check the back of the unit...theres a switch called cd mode, and dj mode, or something like that, or cd player mode and normal mode...regardless, its a tiny switch that may get flipped during transport, but if its been sitting on your table untouched, then take it to pioneer, i think they are located in mississauga
edit: dont know the point of having that "CD player" mode, which is the most basic functions of it and sounds like what you're describing, cause with the price of a 1000 (any series) thats one EXPENSIVE ING CD PLAYER |

damn. power down the unit, flip it back and forth, power it back on...would be my next suggestion, maybe that will somehow reset it...what version of cdj 1000 out of curiousity? |

Long & McQuade has in-store electronics repair staff...maybe give them a call?
If not, I'm sure there's a manufacturer-approved repair centre somewhere in the city. Call Pioneer? |

that would be a wonderful idea, id I'd actually purchased it.
It was given to a friend a few years ago by a liqour company as payment for a gig. |

I think I should rephrase my question.
has anyone used a place that before for repairs on a CDJ 1000, which they found to be quick, reliable and not overly expensive?
I know a million and one places that will fix it, but I don't know anyone that's actually used the places and can give me a heads up on who's on the ball. |

ev, it sounds like the laser is ******ed..... i would take it to an authorized pioneer dealer and have them look at it. if you take it to any long and mcquade, i'm sure they can send it away to get it fixed.
not too sure what the cost is on that - i'd wager a guess on a couple hundred bucks.
good luck. |
