SPACE OF SOUND, MADRID STATEMENT
There appears to be some lies floating around on the net by the promoters/club Space of Sound in Madrid regarding my performance Sunday night and I want to set the record straight. After 43 minutes they told me to 'get off' and literally forced me to stop playing. My flight was delayed and the club owner felt it was more important not to upset the residents. I thought maybe I had done something wrong or not played the right kind of music? I'm sorry if anyone was disappointed, but I was as well. Very much.
Much love,
James Zabiela |
This was also posted on another forum. Apparently James replied to someone who wrote him a PM to his MySpace inbox, and gave him permission to post it.

Can you please post this message from me? I’d just like people to know what went on. I was so sad!
I will never play at this club again, they also recorded my short set and put it on the internet without my permission.
I’m sorry you were dissapointed, but I was as well. Very much.
Maybe I’ll find somewhere else to play in Madrid, somewhere smaller perhaps with less egos involved. I hope so because I never get to play in Madrid and I really like the place and the crowd were very good.
Much love,
James Zabiela”

Someone's going to pounce on the opportunity to make a Tenaglia reference, but it's not apropos.
I'm sure some people were irritated, but if there's anybody to whom I'd give the benefit of the doubt on something like this, it's JZ. |

:haha:
But of course, this is nothing like the Tenaglia incident. He really got treated like and really acted professional about it. No "YOU ON ME, NOW WATCH ME ON YOU!" antics.
I heard from some people that were at the club, that he literally was forced to stop playing. He wrote a big "THANKS!" on his laptop, and turned it around for everyone to see. |

Same situation occured to Tenaglia when he came here in Italy, in an house club along the southern-east coast..
sometimes club promoters are really stupid...can't explain in any other ways their attitudes towards djs and special guests... expecially the one of recording without permission the sets to put in the p2p just to get more positive feedback of their clubs..... idiot!! |

The truth is that Space Of Sound's main promoter is ing rich and he just books every "underground" dj (understand no tiesto, armin & co. here) in the top of the djmag without even listen what style they play. James was going to play much more time but he started with a lot of breaks (nothing wron IMO but very different from the stuff played in the club) so the promoter basically was tired and unhappy with the croud attitude after 43 minutes and forced him to stop. Nothing about the flight here, just they dont know what they book. Abyway it was in an "after" session, not a regular night. Yes, IGNORANTS.
Tell this to James. |

this occurres in my place too sometimes... with djs forced to play something different from their style 'cause they realise that their music is far far away from the crowd tastes ( usually more cheesie commercial)... |

James Zabiela is a legend and one of the nicest DJs going around, everyone knows that.
This shouldn't do all to his rep. |

You think you've had it bad ? I was supposed to see Zabiela yesterday and he was cancelled:
| quote: | Hi,
I regret to inform you all I will not be performing tonight at Warsaw due to a delay in receiving my passport from the US Embassy where it was being processed for a visa. This accompanied by bad traffic from Southampton to Heathrow meant my flight was sadly missed.
BUT, I will be in Poznan Saturday night Smile And I re-sheduled my flight accordingly. I will be spending the night in the airport, nothing will stop me coming to Poland! I really cannot wait!!! Smile
Many apologies,
James |
I hope James will come back to Warsaw sometime soon though :(

Actually the main issue here is not the un-authorized recording. It's the fact that the threw him out 43 minutes into his set. |
