Nope just speaking the truth. Besides a close minded person would probably be one who can't think for themselves and needs a radio chart to tell them what to play for the rest of the spiky haired, popped collar douches.

Just because you don't let the music industry stuff trash music up your ass doesn't make you close minded.

My main point here though is that hip-hop isn't harder than anything else. At least that is my experience from playing hip-hop for years. But yea I'll keep on being close minded and digging for great music that people haven't heard a hundred times before.

To be fair not only top40 DJ are major bags because quite a bit of EDM jocks are guilty of buying the top 10 on Beatport and not thinking for themselves, etc...

i know some really talented "top40"ish DJs. there is a time and a place for all kinds of music, stop being a wanker.

Nobody ever said you can't be a talented douche. Lets try using a little bit of logic here. And I'll stop being a jerk when you stop being one. That will happen about hmmm never.

You are right there is a time and place for top40. You will find it at your local guido/douche hangout.

There are plenty of "guido's" in both crowds. For every person that isn't tolerant of EDM there's an EDM person who is tolerant of other music. They all have there own styles and both have just as many tools in the crowd.

Yep that is why I said there are EDM douches too. Reference my earlier posts. Most guidos are found in top40 and commercialized house. There is a place here that does all electronic music on Saturdays, but I don't go because it is full of guido douchebags listening to the worst house music ever.

I can just see them shopping/stealing music. "This was top 10 on beatport it is hot!" Hmmm actually you mean it is just , but whatever.

there are many top 40 songs i dont play because they do suck. i hardly ever look at the charts. however, i do reccomend new hip-hop djs to pay attention to the carts. i dont need to look at the charts to know what's hot. if i hear a song and i think it's hot, i'll play it. 9/10 times the songs that i hear and prefer to play are on the charts or will be in the near future.

EDM and Hip Hop are merging again like they did back in the mid 90's. And it's not just EDM and Hip Hop, it's EDM and a whole lot of other genres.

yeah im starting to notice this trend... its been going on for a while now not only in top40s but also in EDM (Evol Intent anyone??? Timberlake...) but i still feel as though EDM in a lot of places is an outcast, but hip-hop isnt so bad.... your just not looking thats all use them DJ ears and actually spend some time and get out and find GOOD hip-hop, its out there just hidden by all the bling and gansta bull...

i really started diggin into good hip-hop because i love Drum n Bass, just try looking beyond the pop charts for hip-hop and dig deep just like you dip deep for those unknown tracks in Trance and House

Yeah! Music is merging and mainstream clubs are accepting EDM again. Last night I played at a CalState Long Beach Party (University), and I had no clue what to expect. When I got there, the promoters told me to play mainly hip hop & top 40, but they also said I was free to explore anything. So as soon as I got a chance, I started playing house, and BAM! The place exploded. I kept my house a little bit mainstream, but it was fun. A year ago, I wasn't even able to do that because it would clear the dance floor. To keep it interesting, I kept going back and forth between house, trance & uptempo Top 40 every 30 min. The key is to keep breaks to a minimum and very short! As you can see, I edit a lot of the tracks, and re-arrange them to keep them interesting.

Here's some of the tracks I played..

Samin vs Khia - Lick My Heater
Alex Gaudino vs Crystal Waters - Destination Calabria
Federico Franchi - Cream
The Freaks - The Creeps (Vandalism Mix)
The Killers - Mr Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont Remix)
Eric Prydz - Proper Education
Axwell - Sweet Dreams
Ferry Corsten - Punk (Dj Woody Edit)
Tiesto - Lethal Industy 2007 (DJ Woody Edit)
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough (Dirty South Remix - DJ Woody Edit)
Bob Sinclair - Rock This Party
Bob Sinclair - World Hold On (Original)
Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For LA
Daft Punk - Crescendolls
Daft Punk - One More Time
Modjo - Lady 2007 (Electro Remix)
Timbaland - The Way I Are (Icons Electro Remix)
Top Modelz - Your Love (Mondo Remix)
Darude - Sandstorm (Tuff House Electro Remix)
Laurent Wolf - Saxo 2006 (Tribal Mix)
Ritmo Dynamic - Boca Linda
Dave Lambert - Funkytown 2007 (DJ Woody Edit)
