Don't care. The only FDV tracks you can say that about the the Francois Dubois ones, and all of those are infinitely better than any of the recent Jimpster tracks IMO, and frankly - the slide Jimpster has been on just bothers me substantially more, as I honestly think his newer stuff sounds like he's put about as much effort into them as Steve Angello puts into his tracks. He used to be amazing, and now he's just sad.

knew that would hit a nerve and dude, we've debated this for ing months now haha. i agree his FDB alias is much more guilty of the "samey" sound than FDV. seems to me like he's focusing a lot more on the FDB alias recently though and in the same way you think jimpster hasn't put any thought into his recent tracks, i think FDB has done the same. funk d'void as FDB is just as guilty as jimpster when it comes to mass-releasing the same old same old, tried and true "i'm gonna sell a lot of this record" sound that people have come to expect and enjoy. he's obviously trying to capitalize on the recent popularity of "modern-sounding" deep house, and it's working. good for him. good for both of them, really.
i think the main thing with jimpster is he's been hit or miss lately. some of his recent tracks are ace imo, "what god has chosen", "i'm not afraid of the future", "400 years" to a lesser extent. but then you have like "those days" that he obviously didn't put a lot of effort into.
in the end (and you know this already), i'm not saying i don't like FDB's productions (quite the opposite), i'm just saying that they're both guilty of capitalizing on their "specific sound" that just happens to work well. |

Yeah, see this is where it comes down to personal preference, because honestly - of all of those, the only one I even remotely like is "400 Years", and even that's just for kitch value.
Honestly, Jimpsters best work in my mind is his album "Messages from the Hub", which is a bit of a departure from what he's doing now - so my expectations are vastly skewed.
But we can all agree that Matthew Dear is the man. Even if that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread. |

set by Moodymann and Charles Webster back to back. I don't know when it's recorded, maybe in 2004 or 2005. It's a really good deep house set which every deep house lover should check out :) |

Deep house is definately getting more popular as people are slowing realising how broader genre is really is. Beyond the thumping Plastic City & Urbantorque, you have BuzzinFly, Drumpoet, Wave, Innervision, Dessous, Compost, Winding Road, Miso, Mobilee, Ovum, Spectral, Liebe Detail and stacks n stacks more.
You can incorporate so many different sounds into a deep house set n thats why i'm in love with the stuff :cool: |
