Stay at Oasis if you go... it was the best hotel with the best contests, pool, and girls. Heard that new club The City is pretty sick. PM me if you have any questions, I'll try to help out. |

cabs can get expensive, to try not to stay too far away from plaza caracol, in the hotel zone, which is where most of the bars/clubs are.
the hotel zone is one long strip (kinda like south beach) and locations are noted by kilometers from a starting point. try to find something between km 8 and km 9 if possible.
unless you are really trying to save money, don't stay near the center of town - it is far from the beach. but the bus runs all night and is pretty cheap.
i prefer playa del carmen. smaller and more easy going than cancun but still a lot of craziness. |

I went to Cancun for Spring Break last year stayed at a ty/cheap hotel in the heart of the main strip (I think it was called Girasol). I got my friend who was staying at the Oasis Cancun to "lose" their bracelet and give it to me, so I had access to all of their facilities for the week. It cost them $100 to get a new one but I paid it for him and it was well worth it. That's where all the day action is and the hotel has a great pool and pretty good food, including a sushi bar, all inclusive.
As for the clubs, I was very disappointed. Keep in mind that during Spring Break they are catering to a majority of American college students, so pretty much the only music you will hear all week is Hip-Hop. These were all the clubs that are located in the usual packages: The City, Basic, Dady' O, Koko Bongo's (dont even step foot in there), etc...
The only one of those that played any sort of EDM was Dady O, and it didn't come on until about 2-3am, and the clubs close sometime around 4:30, or at least a majority of the people leave by then (Dady O did have a sick laser system though). Honestly, the best night I had out was catching Jason Jollins at this smaller local venue on the water called Nectar Bar. That was an awesome place/night.
If you're looking for more of a nightlife and more EDM, I suggest heading to Acapulco. I've been there for the past two years and prefer it over Cancun greatly. It's rapidly gaining popularity with the Spring Break crowd and provides just as good of day parties as Cancun from my experience.
There are two really nice clubs in Acapulco called Mandara and Palladium. Both have EAW Avalon sound systems that pump, and both are run really well. Cover is $50 for open bar from 12-5am. The clubs stay open until the last person leaves as well, I was there until 8-9AM on a few occasions. The also mix in much more EDM into the night (I know Tiesto and Calderone have been there in the past year). Overall, those two clubs beat out anything Cancun had to offer, IMO. I believe STS has packages where you get 2 nights at each of those clubs.
The only thing worse about Acapulco is the food and getting there. Other than that, I would suggest staying away from Cancun if your asking advice on a site called tranceaddict.
Feel free to PM me any specific questions on the issue. |

Yo thanks for the input everyone... To be honest, I don't really care whats going on at the clubs, I'm not going there for EDM or anything I just wanna have the typical spring break experience. Getting wasted and sleeping with random skanks :)
One of my biggest concerns are the all-inclusive packages.
We're most likely going to stay at the Oasis, cuz it seems like that's where it's at. If I get an all-inclusive there does that mean I can eat/drink all I want, including booze as long as I'm at the hotel/resort?
Also what are the deals with club passes? I heard someone say that when you get there people try to sell you wristbands that get you open bar in tons of clubs or something? Anyone have any details on that?
I had some people tell me the all-inclusives are bull and just get the cheapest package and then pay for booze, and others say go all-inclusive.
What do you all think? |

booze isn't that expensive (pick up some duty free liquor on your way there). if you plan on spending a lot of time outside you might as well buy your own alchohol. If you want to spend time at the hotel and drink at the beach bar and eat the buffet, then get all inclusive. both tend to work out to about the same. |

I was there a few years ago and i had a blast. Lots of things have changed since then due to a few hurricanes etc ( i acctually go stuck there during one and spent the night in a hurricane shelter with food poisining - easily the worst 24hrs of my life)
anyhoo, there used to be a beach side club called NECTAR, this was an afterhours club that only played EDM. This place was ING INSANE, we saw anthony pappa play a 7 hr set there and it was total bedlem - in a good way, cool crowd, strong drinks, the dj booth was set up on the beach ( on the lagoon side) so the sunrise was behind Pappa Playing ..... there was still like 100+ people there when we left at 2pm - If its still there i strongly suggest it!!!
ingy
ps its totaly unknown to the spring break crowd so there are no beligerant arse-holes running about. I would suggest asking a taxi driver about it. There was also a few hot tubs set up in various places - the place was dooope! |
