Such BULL and a double standard! in your case, her ing ass should be charged and in jail! Jesus hearing stuff like that really drives me nuts.
when did society generally decide we'd accept or tolerate or not make a 'big deal' out of physical hitting and abuse from a woman on a man, but that the *slightest* bit of such activity reversed and its a massive taboo and punished extremely.
It should be punished as such in BOTH cases equally. One is no less wrong than the other. Ridiculous. |
I think it happened around the same time that we decided women should be paid less than men, and should generally speaking be treated as inferior and simply objects of male sexual desire..
Not that this is the case for most people, but its tough... gender issues are complicated and are pretty engrained in one direction or the other in the minds of alot of people. |

When I was 16 I dated a girl who played the same game. She was an only child and a spoiled one at that.
She got all bruised up playing touch football or whatever and told everyone at her school that I had roughed her up. I was going to go visit the school with an army buddy of mine (he went to that school)on a day off from training and he says, "maybe you shouldn't come with" and then told me the story. Apparently some people knew I was coming and had plans to teach me a lesson. Please hold your school jokes until the end.
So I didn't go. When I got home I was visibly upset and, after some coaxing, told my 'rents the whole story. My mom called her mom, who was dumbfounded and angry that her daughter would do such a thing to a nice boy like me, knowing how she got bruised up. Nothing ever happened.
I was very angry with my mom for going behind my back as I like to deal with things myself, but I didn't understand fully the potential for this to escalate. Both my 'rents were cops and know all too well what even a false accusation of this sort can mean for a young man.
A year or so later a friend of mine was falsely accused of rape and there was a huge deal with the cops and he had to change schools because of the stigma the false accusation attached to him. It was clearly just a cry for attention because he was out of town that day/night at a family gathering...the cops were not impressed, but again, nothing ever happened to her. |

| that story sucks and yeah, she needs to be ripped a new ass (or vag). That said, think of all the assaults that DO happen and go unreported by women. We as males suck more than women, generally :( |

im wondering how many dont go reported by men, bc of things like they feel they should just suck it up, dont be a '' and make a big deal out of it, or other social doctrines that have made men generally keep such to themselves. i mean, jesus, imagine a buddy foudn out you were being hit by your wife and you reported it... i can just picture the 'the boys' would prolly laugh at it...
but then that right there is an issue men are propgating themselves, if they'd raze a buddy or co-work or someone they knew about acting as such. |

wow what a serious issue. shout out of support to you guys that have experienced these negative issues personally. :(
I'm just noticing, though, the absence of female perspective on this :nervous: :nervous:
I guess it's just a touchy subject. |

As I understand it, there is alot of stigma surrounding it... (ie. if you got raped you asked for it, or are a whore etc...)
My girlfriend volunteers for SASSL (Sexual Assault Survivors Support Line) @ York, and from what I've heard from her the actual rates of women who have been/will be raped are estimated (by whom im not sure) to be nearly 50%.
Granted that kind of thing is impossible to get an actual statistic on because they arent all reported, and I dont know what the actual figure she quoted to me is or who came up with it but it sounded pretty high to me...
I don't know tons about these issues, but I do know that alot of cases go unreported.
its just a shame there are crazy attention seeking b*tches out there using something like this for their own personal agendas. |

I think you have a serious misunderstanding of how things actually play out. While they may take action and make an arrest - how often do any of these guys actually serve time?
Have you ever had an abused man or woman in your life?
Have you ever had a friend beaten to a pulp by her boyfriend and lived through the experience as a victim?
While I completely agree that punishment should be equal on both sides - I don't think men who abuse women are getting a raw deal.
I do suppose when you only see a woman as a set of your perception can be blurred. |
