i think gerardi will have a lil more lou pinella in him then torre
who will actually yell and scream at his players to get his point across
as for pettite not commin back iam sad we really needed him
maybe the rocket will come back who knows

apparently pettitte isn't precluding a return to the yankees. i think he had a deadline to accept, and he didn't want to commit just yet (contemplating retirement)....sounds like BS to me, he could always accept then retire anytime.

I don't blame the guy. Why commit to a team with so many question marks right now? I think he waits until the situations with Posada and Rivera are dealt with. He has already stated that he'll either pitch for the Yankees or retire. He's just trying to guage if the Yankees can put together a formidable team for next year. It's pretty clear that Andy's not about the money.

A-Rod is a bust?

Yankee fans really are out of their minds sometimes.

$16,000,000 ......... you must be kidding. no team will offer him that.

he didn't say arod is a bust. he was referring to clemens. he is just hating on arod.
hitokiri
well technically ur both right i am hating on arod an yes i consider him a bust beacause out of the 4 yrs he only produced 2 out of those yrs an even the first yr(mvp yr) it was stats that weren t needed, when the yanks needed him he choked but when runs weren t needed hed be an all star, this yr its all stats an yes he did help them but it suited him better cause contract time also he was suppose to be the final piece to bringing rings back i mean lets not forget the back of the daily news when he first was picked up by the yanks titled Princes of NY it was him jeter an torre so in a sense he was a bust an yes i will continue to hate on him (hes worse in my eyes as bonds or clemens for that matter)

as a die-hard yankees fan i can not say any year of arods contract was a bust. maybe his hits were untimely in his first few years, but his numbers were sick in every year. however, i won't argue that AROD is all about AROD. But remember that it isn't bad if being all about AROD helps the team. hate all you want, but you can't honestly say that arod is a bust. when all is said and done, he will be one of the top 5 greatest players of all time.

AY STAR
honestly arod is a good player no doubt about it
but i think he wants to be the star of the team but at the same time he wants to win a championship
he saw that he was the star in texas and loved it he stood out
but i feel he came to ny to try and win a champoionship
in ny he was not the star he was 1 of maybe 5 or 6 top players
he needs the spotlight on him but when hes in the clutch he dont do
honestly i could careless if he comes back or not i know it will be tuff for the yankees to get that type of power but for the price they are gonna pay him they could save and buy 4 third basemen lol

Kidding about what? As I said, he's either going to sign with the Yankees or retire. I completely agree that he won't see that type of money elsewhere. I never said he was weighing his free agency options.

2008 is going to be a tough year for the Yankees IMO. It's going to be interesting to see what the Yankees do in the offseason. Do you trade some of your young stars to get Santana or Cabrera? Should be fun...
