Give some evidence to support your predictions. What has occurred with this Shiite religious government in leagues with Iran has compelled you to believe such a lovely outcome will occur?

quote:
why hope for any other outcome? (rhetorical. i already know that answer)

Why have any more of our military and innocent civilians killed over a ed-up plan created by a ing insane think-tank leader, Fred Kagan of AEI, for short-term quells in violence when there has been and continues to be no gains in the primary outcome of the political process progressing?

Why continue to put your head in the clouds (or dirt) and "hope" for the best when reality all around clearly paints a different picture while we hold our military and civilians in our hands as a consequence?

No thanks. I prefer that darned reality-based community thingy again. You should try it every now and then. Might actually keep us from ing up a regional area in the future.

quote:
there has been plenty of political progress on many levels in Iraq BTW. thats probably why Karl annotates "on the National level"

The overall process with the national government is the PRIMARY reason for the surge, and that process has not gone forward by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh, I know you can stretch your "hope" and imagination pretty far, Q. You can stretch it as far as Kagan and Cheney tell you to stretch it. But that does not change what Karl stated quite clearly:

quote:
KARL: In fact, there’s been almost no political progress on the national level, and U.S. officials know military gains won’t mean much if the Iraqi government doesn’t get its act together, which is one reason the Pentagon doesn’t even want to use the word “winning.”

By the way, what does "winning" mean to you? Bush and your minions seem not to define it very well. What does it mean? And furthermore, does that supposed endpoint entail any point to which our troops can finally withdraw and come home?

quote:
but you are suggesting that the WH believes there are no other Iraq news sources other than their own. otherwise what would be the point of their omitting that last segment? i'll tell you why in a second.

I suggested nor implied nothing of the sort. Rather, if the WH is going to utilize news sources for their benefit, which they're perfectly free to do of course, it would behoove them to utilize that story in full context.

quote:
Karl's full report aired in it's entirety, unedited, on primetime tv for the entire country to see. are you saying the WH edited that? no you are not.

Of course not. Your point?

quote:
what i'm saying is that what the WH used of Karl's report in text form was published as whats called the White House Iraq Update. it's an official statement used by the press office for dissemination at whatever level they like to use text like that for. in addition to that, they probably like to use information like that in a context of their choosing. in this case the context was related to trends in civilian and military deaths and overall violence, not as a barometer for something different like "political process on the national level"

Okay, I'll go with this. Only one small problem, Q. - if the WH truly thought they were right to selectively edit for their own choosing to the press, to their family, to their dog for all I care.....why apologize to ABC news then? Why admit that omitting the editing aspects was "inappropriate" in the first place then? If you or they felt they did nothing wrong with throwing out their edited version to the press "in a context of their own choosing," why admit once they got busted that it was "inappropriate?"

That little contradiction is inescapable, Q. And don't tell me it was the result of copyright issues - nothing in the report nor anything that the WH mentioned demonstrates that.

quote:
i have never used that word here. seriously, ever.

Must have been someone else. Apologies.

Okay If our current plan dosent work. Someone please tell me what the we should be doing in Iraq to restore security/peace and a stable governments that can withhold itself? Someone please tell me what the we should be doing? Oh I know, lets get withdraw there as soon as possible
People should stop bitching and complaining and start bringing solutions to the table.

Solutions have been brought to the table. I've discussed them at length in numerous threads, but your ignorant ass has been wholly absent from those conversations. Why is that?

Seriously, downstairs now or I'll take your little computer away from you.
